Was there ever a comma in the title of "Paint It Black"?

As shown in the photo of the single cover released in the U.K., there was originally a comma in the title. However, a footnote to the Wikipedia page state that this was due to a 'typographical error'.
The song was originally released as "Paint It, Black" due to a typographical error.[1]

The quoted reference offers page 172 of Greenfield, Robert (1981). 'The Rolling Stone Interviews. New York' St. Martin's Press/Rolling Stone Press. ISBN 978-0-312-68955-1 as evidence.
