To all intents and purposes, the two terms are interchangeable, and either is correct. One or the other term may be preferred in particular countries or regions.

Thanks, though still doesn't seem logical. My sister is the baby's grandmother, so logically I should be a grand-uncle, but I'll accept the 'interchangeable' definition.
