Why has there never been a Pope Luke?

The choice of the Papal Name belongs to the incoming Pope. There does not appear to be any prohibition against Luke (or any other name, including Peter II - altho that name seems to have been avoided by custom out of respect for the 1st Pope); so the absence of Luke (or Luca) is probably a simple matter of coincidence. There have been "only" 266 papacies in history. Many names are anachronisms today.
