Here is what my research has revealed, which may or may not answer your question:
"When the Tigers broke Free" is a Pink Floyd song by Roger Waters describing the death of his father , Eric Fletcher Wares, during the battle of Anzio. Eric Waters served in Z comany of the Royal Fusiliers. He, along with the rest of Company Z was killed by a German Tiger tank assault.(In the song, Waters pronounces "Z" as the American "Zee", hence the unit sometimes gets incorrectly referred to as "Company C".)
On the 18th February 1944 The Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment)took part in "Operation Shingle" (the battle of Anzio). Company Z were part of this operation. Their orders were to hold a bridgehead against a Tiger tank assault. I am assuming there were survivors as the Regimental History just says there were many casualties.
