When films are released on DVD or VHS, they always come out on a Tuesday, while new movies are released in theaters on Fridays...Theaters release movies on Fridays, at the end of the week. People are less likely to spend their money on movies at the same time in any given week. Tuesday and Friday are at opposite ends of the work week, and therefore customers are more liable to spend their money on both theater and DVD purchases.
