The Sons of the Pioneers were the first Country and Western group to sing at Carnegie Hall, and the first to perform at the lavish nightclubs in Las Vegas. The group has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6845 Hollywood Blvd. for recording.

If the name rings a bell, it may because they were formed in 1933 as the Pioneer Trio by Leonard Slye, Bob Nolan, and Tim Spencer. When Leonard Slye decided to pursue a career in film, he had to leave the group, and changed his name to Roy Rogers. The Sons of the Pioneers appeared in a number of his films, sometimes performing on their own, sometimes as his backup group.
