It actually snowed for about 30 minutes on Feb 18, 1979, in southern Algeria. Apparently, the snow melted quickly. In the highest mountains of Chd, also in the Sahara, it will snow every few years.

There are three recorded instances of snow in the lowland including the one in 1979. The other two were in 2016 and 2018.
