Gangkhar Puensum is the world's 40th highest mountain by elevation, at 7,570 metres (24,840'). It lies on the Bhutan-China border and has yet to be completely climbed.
In 1994, because of religious beliefs, Bhutan stopped all mountaineering on peaks higher than 6,000 metres (20,000').
