Why would people want to put "masonjoany" on their faces?

Masonjoany has several beneficial uses primarily in Madagascar. Interestingly, it is taken from ground wood with the color of the masonjoany being determined by the type of wood. Yellow comes from Madagascar sandalwood and white comes from the fihamy tree. The benefits of masonjoany include as a sunscreen and a skin softener. It has also an insect repellant. Quite beautiful designs can be made with the striking contrast of the paste and the young women's faces.
