I'm presuming that "perfectly pitched game" is being used here instead of "perfect game" because the rules were so different in 1880, when the only major league was the National League. If that is correct, there were only two perfect games ever thrown before the founding of the American League in 1901, and they happened to be thrown five days apart in 1880. The first games was June 12, when Worcester (MA) pitcher Lee Richmond threw a perfect game against Cleveland. The second was June 17, when Providence (RI) pitcher John Montgomery Ward threw a perfect game against Buffalo. And the next one didn't take place until 24 years later in the American League, when Cy Young threw one for Boston against Philadelphia.
