I believe Australia's 50 cent coin is the world's heaviest standard circulating coin. It's a monstrous 15.55g dodecagon measuring 31.65mm in diameter. While a bit excessive, it's distinct size and shape allows it to be differentiated from its smaller denomination siblings at a glance, even for those unfamiliar with the currency.
