Why did Stephen King sue to have his name removed from the title of the 1992 film "The Lawnmower Man"?

The film was so different from King's story that he wanted his name to be removed. The judge ruled in King's favor and the author received $2.5 million in a settlement. Despite the ruling when the video was released King's name was still on the film!
