Donald Trump sold his controlling stake in the Plaza Hotel to Singaporean and Saudi investors in 1995.

Donald Trump bought the Plaza in 1988 for $407.5 million, according to his real estate portfolio, and sold it in 1995 for $325 million, meaning he lost about $83 million on the change of ownership.

The Plaza Hotel was renovated again after El Ad Properties purchased it in 2005, and the hotel was subsequently sold to Sahara India Pariwar in 2012 and then to Katara Hospitality in 2018. The hotel has been managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts since 2005.
