A keitora is a small pickup truck made in Japan for the domestic market that meets certain regulations. They must be currently no more than 3.4 m (11.2 ft) long and 1.48 m (4.9 ft) wide and a maximum height of 2.0 m (79 in) with a maximum engine displacement of 660 cc. They weigh about 700 kg (1,500 lb), and some models can reach 120 km/h (75 mph). They evolved from three-wheeled trucks based on motorcycles from 1949. The Keitora was first made in 1959 and most Japanese car manufactures make at least one model. Van equivalents are also popular. These vehicles only had a small loading capacity. Keitora almost always have a cab over engine design which enable them to generally have 1.8 m (6 ft) pickup beds with fold-down sides which is comparable to a crew cab version of the Ford F-150. However loads are limited to 350 kg (770 lb). Equipment is basic but they all have seat belts, windshield wipers, AM radios, heaters, lights and signals, and catalytic converters. If a vehicle meet these regulations, it earn tax concessions regarding registration and insurance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kei_truck https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/shows/2032266/ https://keitora.jp/pages/about-keitora
