Well into the 1980s, Scotland produced a new generation of pop bands, under the banner of "anorak pop" (so called from the simple jacket preferred by simple kids).

Music characterized by infectious melodies, and simple, unaffected performances. It was a movement towards wistful musical primitivism, and willful naïveté.
