- The only form of energy visible to the eye is energy carried by light. There are other types of energy, e.g. the energy of sound waves or the kinetic energy of a train, that are not visible to the eye.
- Of the energy carried by light, only a tiny part of the total spectrum is visible to the eye. Other energies of light, such as X-ray, ultraviolet, or infrared, are invisible to humans.
Heat waves are visible to the "naked eye" while they pass though a gas of a different energy level or temperature. Sound waves can be seen in compression clouds from supersonic objects.
