Subject: The Official Share a Story Thread

Posted by: Terry
Date: Aug 24 12

If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Been down with a monster cold for over a week now. Almost over it, thank heavens. I was so wrung out that if I had a multiple choice question asking me my name, I don't think I would have scored.

Dear catnlib, Thank you for your kind words. I certainly will not give up, especially as I have to earn a living, and for today at least, I believe you are right--there may be a better job waiting for me. I just have to find it. And mixamatosis, thank you again for both of your posts. I'm very grateful to you both for taking the time to respond. Take care of yourselves! Sincerely, TheQueenly1

Dear njbruce, A bad cold can indeed take a lot out of you, and I'm glad you are recovering from yours. You can resume taking trivia quizzes! Take care. Sincerely, TheQueenly1

Dear looney_tunes, I'm sorry to learn that your recovery from surgery is taking longer than anticipated. It must be difficult to get back to being an editor on this site following that, but we trivia buffs appreciate the work you editors do. Still, don't push yourself too much, you do need to recover, and take care! Sincerely, TheQueenly1

Daniel Ricciardo's win in the Monaco F1 Grand Prix last week was one of best I have seen. To still be able to hold off Vettel and Hamilton despite the failure of the Red Bull's energy recovery system meaning he was well down on power was a masterful effort.
Go Dan! Shoot for the world championship!!

TheQueenly1, I really like the way that you take the time to read and reply to posts. I do hope that you have recovered from your disappointment and have not given up looking. Your time will come!

I read every post on here, but rarely reply. I am usually one of the world's watchers and am not too good at joining in.

Sharing a story...hmmm. Just this morning my husband, who had never been a fan of science fiction, saw the first three minutes of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and decided to read some Douglas Adams. I, too, made a decision. though I have read all the books, I was recently thinking about what to put on my grave. "So long, and thanks for all the fish" sounds promising.

Good morning, can you believe it's a brand/new month already? Where is this year going? Of course, it would've been a lot better. But my best friend died in late November of last year. The funny thing is, when I hear something on tv, or a funny joke, that he would've liked. I start to dial his cellphone. He was and is a great guy, who would literally give you the shirt off his back. Anyway, getting back to my opening statement at the beginning of this post, I'm glad, that Spring is finally showing its head. Even though here, where I live in Virginia, we're supposed to have scattered thunderstorms. and in some areas, a flash flood watch has been posted. The Ironic thing about all this rain we've received over the last 2 weeks, has backed up the sewer system, and all the crap is going into the James River. Well, that's all I have for now. I hope that everyone out here has a wonderful weekend. John

Cold, wet and windy here, but thank goodness for the rain. It is so desperately needed.

Today is my goddaughter's 4th birthday party. She refers to me as "the lady in the pink shirt" so, naturally, I'm wearing another pink shirt.

Hot and humid here in Delaware. I began picking strawberries a few of days ago. From my 8x10 ft. raised garden I have already picked 10 quarts. Last year we got 32 quarts (a lot) and I made jam. Hope this year to get the same amount but probably we won't . Too much rain and they rot it they touch the ground. I threw away about 2 quarts as I was picking yesterday.

Grumpy and irritated and TV is waste of time. Don't know any poems or jokes. Had 3 PB cookies though so wasn't total waste of day. Thank ye. ! .

Husband's employer decided to downsize and organize with very short notice.

Some employees were given less than one day of notice and were allowed to pack one box before being escorted off of property.

Those were the managers.

Imagine what is happening to other staff. One person has 45 years of dedicated service.

Knowledge is walking out the door during a time when the company needs it most.

Retirement.....here we come!

I have almost completed a memorial garden for my daughter. She was tragically killed in September. This has been a true labor of love.

Several people have a BBQ on Memorial Day, but I don't remember the last time I had a BBQ on Memorial Day or went to one.
