Subject: The Official Share a Story Thread

Posted by: Terry
Date: Aug 24 12

If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Why don't I get the Share a Story challenge when I have something to share?

SPACE ALIENS ATTACK TWO PEOPLE IN PENNSYLVANIA

Sometimes the news is just funny, but only if nobody gets hurt.

These two people were being chased by aliens who were shooting lasers at them. They had a gun which they used to protect themselves. Neighbor calls police. When the police get there they find the two were high on bath salts and the aliens were lightning bugs (fireflies). The two were arrested.

High on bath salts? They must have been pretty desperate, or perhaps cleanliness fanatics.

Can you be arrested for abusing bath salts?

Drug possession and shooting a gun. Yes you can be arrested.

Never heard of tickets being sold more than a year in advance. I would have shown up, too.

"Bath salts" is slang for synthetic drugs, typically powerful hallucinogens chemically similar to PCP, mostly manufactured in China. They got that name because they look somewhat like real bath salts (which no one uses for drugs.) Laws against "bath salts" have proven difficult to enforce because laws are against specific chemicals, and as soon as one particular chemical is banned, others are created by slightly altering the structure of the molecule (so-called designer drugs.) This is neither a new nor an isolated phenomenon. As always, if you want to know more about something, Google it. It's a serious problem and has been for years.

Tomorrow is my husband's birthday. Fourth of July, so all our sons will be over for dinner and fireworks.

The hot weather continues in the UK. England beat Colombia in the world cup.

Two great reasons to be happy. But these are fleeting joys. What fills me with a joy that is lasting is that God loves me and gave His only Son to die for my sins.

These Great Quiz Races certainly take a bit of time to complete, however I think they will pale in comparison to the Ascension Quest once I start it!

I returned yesterday from two wonderful weeks on the island of Lanzarote.

Home to fabulous summer weather which is a rarity in the Uk. Plus all the excitement of England still in the World Cup. Can we believe it’s coming home? Come on England!!

My little old mother-in-law asked me 4 years ago to teach her how to play pool. I told her I was going to make her play by the real rules & nothing sloppy. Despite being weak & not being too good at geometry, we played every week just to get her confidence up. She invited my father-in-law & husband & we took them on & won almost every game. So we all went out to get her her very own cue to her delight. We've all had surgeries & falls lately, but she & my f-i-l have been sneaking practices in weekly for months. Yesterday we all went out together & the students are getting almost better than the teachers. My hubby & I need to go out for some pool dates, it is evident, so we can regain our edge. :D

Happy Birthday America! Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July! No to leave anyone out, I hope all the Funtrivia fans (no matter which country you call home) have a wonderful day! I have no fun stories to share today, except I saw the cutest family of California long tailed weasels yesterday. Wish I could share a picture, but I spooked them and they ran away.

It's Independence Day in the States, and the locals have begun to set off their (illegal) fireworks. I can't wait for tomorrow, and silence.

This challenge is difficult when you are advised to stay out of the chats.

Points are points and that's the point of Fun Trivia.
