I decided not to plod through GC this time. It’s supposed to be a sunny, beautiful day here and I will not sit at the computer all day. Farmer’s market will be first on my list, then I need to transplant some plants. Reply #21182. May 11 19, 6:08 AM |

My neighbor called me over to see the early bouquet of roses her son sent her for Mothers Day. Rainbow roses. Really beautiful & seem fun to make. I told her to give her son my address, too, for next year :D Reply #21183. May 11 19, 6:37 AM |

My mother, from whom I was estranged, died in January 2018. A solicitor contacted me and asked for some details so that he could forward her bequest to me in her will. It only took eighteen months as the money went into my account at the end of April 2019. Reply #21184. May 11 19, 7:24 AM |

I love geography and tend to focus on that subject for crosswords and quizzes. Thanks to all those creators! Reply #21186. May 11 19, 4:51 PM |

Today I went to see the movie "Tolkien." Very good for the most part, excellent acting, very good background and special effects. Not all the details were correct, but I didn't mind that so long as they were things that actually happened. I did dislike two incidents in the movie that, so far as I know, were completely made up. The life of J.R.R. Tolkien and his work were sufficiently interesting that it was not necessary to make something up! Otherwise, it is well worth seeing. At first I thought I would end up having the entire theater to myself, as I was the only person there. Then five minutes before the movie was to start, two women entered together, and with the entire theater to choose from *of course* they sat down next to me. The woman seated immediately alongside me pulled out a Kindle-sized cell phone that shone like a beacon, and started to check her e-mails. She was annoyed when I politely asked her to shut it off and put it away, but she did it, albeit sullenly, when I refused to back down. Take care, everyone! Sincerely, TheQueenly1 Reply #21187. Today is mother's day in Germany, and quite a lot of other countries around the world. Thank you, Mama. Even if you are not around anymore, I still love you. Reply #21191. May 12 19, 12:43 AM |

I've just managed to put away the Christmas crib and decorations which I was too poorly to see to when I got back after Christmas. I managed to take them down and put them in front of the cupboard they needed to go into, and covered them over with a large cloth. It was months before I got over the recurring virus and there were lots of neglected things to attend to, so... But last week I needed to get into that cupboard and so had to move the pile, causing an awful mess which I eventually packed away by 11.30 last night. Great relief. So sorry, lonely-lady, to hear of your sad experience. I hope the bequest brings a healing message to your heart and you can feel closer to your mother in some way. Reply #21194. May 12 19, 7:16 AM |
