There once was a man from Nantucket, who said share a story or suck it. I went out of my way as I needed this play, it wouldn't have made sense just to duck it. Reply #36525. Jun 19 24, 1:40 PM |

Toronto has been building a CrossTown LRT for the last ten years The original estimate was three to four-years It is not finished , way over Budget and some of the original structure has to be replaced due to weather erosion. The contractors have recently said that they have no definite idea of when the work will be done and the trains running I used to make fun of Boston and their BigDig I must apologize to Boston Reply #36530. kented, my sympathies to you. We in Calgary have our own little LRT disaster brewing. What was originally supposed to cost $4.6B for 46km has been pared down to 18km for $5.5B. The engineers I'm working with say that it's likely it will cost at least $10B with inflation, increased cost of materials, etc. The shorter they get the more they cost. Sad thing is it will barely reach anyone who actually needs public transit as it's running through mainly an industrial area and will end up at the dump in the city's southeast. We are completely bewildered but they're digging their heels - it's all systems go! We call it the Green Line to Nowhere. Reply #36531. Jun 19 24, 6:25 PM |

On this day in history 1975 Steven Spielberg's movie 'Jaws' was released in cinemas and it was a huge success, some say creating the genre of summer blockbuster movies. Reply #36536. Jun 20 24, 4:44 AM |

I wish you health, KingLouie6, and hope the rest of your treatment goes well. Meanwhile, London's Elizabeth line (opened in 2022) which is a mix of overground and underground, is 96Km long, and has 40 stations (including 10 built from scratch), one of which (Paddington) is apparently big enough to accommodate the Shard, assuming that the Shard would lie down on its side. When you think that the tunnels had to be built over, under, and round an existing network of tunnels, sewers, communications systems, underground rivers, ancient burial grounds, innumerable building foundations, ancient monuments, and other archaeological sites whilst linking to an existing train network in a city that is 2000 years old... $25Bn almost seems cheap!
