While the replacement of low-ranked quizzes is a continuing goal, preparation of extra quizzes to introduce variety for the tourists is also important now that the Bus Ride is well-established. Some tourists have been around the world over ten times, and even nice quizzes get repetitive. The lowest-ranked quiz currently used for the tour has a ranking that is roughly in the top third of all quizzes, so replacement is not an urgent matter, but we would still like to have new quizzes of a suitable quality to use as replacements, to provide a bit of diversity for those players who have played every day since the beginning, and who have probably memorised the answers to the current quizzes.
If you create a new quiz on a Bus Ride country, get it placed online, and have it place within a reasonable ranking, it may be rotated in to provide a more diverse program. Should your quiz manage a higher ranking than the current entry, it could become the permanent fixture, waiting for a future challenger. As an added bonus, we have modified the ratings system to give all quizzes in our rotation a ratings bump.
Feel free to use this thread to also "claim" a country so that you don't duplicate someone else's effort, and make sure to follow along with our later posts and updates to make sure that everything is in order. We look forward to seeing what you can come up with!

I don't have P and VP info for my quizzes so can't tell if they have an influence. For me, since I am doing the Pangalactics, I like to follow my prospective sunnies but after that, it is idle curiosity. One of my 3 year old quizzes was a poorly place 90k, however over recent months it has gained 40k. ((There's no way of knowing Ps and VPs (or Average ratings).)) True, but you can guess based on the number of Es & Gs and relative position in the rankings. As I say, it's a guess. You really cannot make any kind of educated guess about the distribution of the average, poor and very poor ratings - there simply is not enough information. You can tell when you have two quizzes with similar G&E percentages but quite different rankings that one of them has more lower ratings, but that is about it. And remember that a 5-point scale is a pretty blunt instrument for ranking over 100,000 quizzes, so it only takes a slight difference to produce a dramatic difference in ranking. While a quiz still has under around 100 ratings, a single good or bad rating can send it soaring or plummeting. With more ratings, the impact of a single rating is less dramatic. Reply #1107. The Bus Ride will take any length of quiz, but I would remind you that players seem to rate shorter quizzes more highly. When a quiz is featured on the Bus Ride, it often takes a hit in ratings; this is more obvious when the quiz is rated very difficult or tough, and when it is 15 questions instead of 10. As I noted before, there are one or two 20-question quizzes that do quite nicely, because they have a big variety of questions, and are fairly easy. For the most part, I would recommend aiming for average difficulty and 10 questions, but it is completely the author's call. Reply #1108. Jul 22 13, 10:45 PM |

If you look closely, you will see that Cape Verde has been removed from the top of the page - I have listed it as a reserve quiz despite its (unwarrantedly, in my opinion) low ranking. there has been one written but not yet ranked. But that doesn't make it iron-clad - I register all new quizzes that look as if they may be appropriate, whether registered here or not, and check to see which comes in with the highest ranking if there are more than the minimum. Two highest ranked quizzes get rostered on, but if a third quiz is really close I do have a column in which I record spares.
