I don't have P and VP info for my quizzes so can't tell if they have an influence. For me, since I am doing the Pangalactics, I like to follow my prospective sunnies but after that, it is idle curiosity. One of my 3 year old quizzes was a poorly place 90k, however over recent months it has gained 40k. I suspect that getting a few sunnies this year has resulted in more favourable plays on my less glamorous efforts. Reply #1101. Jul 22 13, 4:21 PM |

It would be nice to know how many average, poor, and very poor ratings we have (or at the very least, just average), but I suspect that may clue us in on how the ratings work, and I think I read somewhere that is something Terry doesn't want us to know. Reply #1102. Jul 22 13, 4:43 PM |

No need to focus on the negative anyways. ;) Reply #1103. Jul 22 13, 5:01 PM |

Personally, I don't view it as negative. Reply #1104. Jul 22 13, 5:57 PM |

((There's no way of knowing Ps and VPs (or Average ratings).)) True, but you can guess based on the number of Es & Gs and relative position in the rankings. As I say, it's a guess. Not trying to focus on the negative, just trying to figure out what I could do better, although the Mauritius quiz I thought was my best Geo quiz yet. Reply #1105. Jul 22 13, 7:36 PM |

So, the word is, a 15-question quiz is okay for the Bus Ride? Reply #1106. Jul 22 13, 9:20 PM |

You really cannot make any kind of educated guess about the distribution of the average, poor and very poor ratings - there simply is not enough information. You can tell when you have two quizzes with similar G&E percentages but quite different rankings that one of them has more lower ratings, but that is about it. And remember that a 5-point scale is a pretty blunt instrument for ranking over 100,000 quizzes, so it only takes a slight difference to produce a dramatic difference in ranking. While a quiz still has under around 100 ratings, a single good or bad rating can send it soaring or plummeting. With more ratings, the impact of a single rating is less dramatic. Reply #1107. The Bus Ride will take any length of quiz, but I would remind you that players seem to rate shorter quizzes more highly. When a quiz is featured on the Bus Ride, it often takes a hit in ratings; this is more obvious when the quiz is rated very difficult or tough, and when it is 15 questions instead of 10. As I noted before, there are one or two 20-question quizzes that do quite nicely, because they have a big variety of questions, and are fairly easy. For the most part, I would recommend aiming for average difficulty and 10 questions, but it is completely the author's call. Reply #1108. Jul 22 13, 10:45 PM |

Finally finished my Check Republic quiz and sent it for editing. Hopefully we can bounce out that old one soon. M Reply #1109. Jul 25 13, 5:08 AM |

This week's rankings provide replacement quizzes for three of the countries previously lacking a replacement for rotation: Burundi, Mozambique and Sierra Leone now have a spare quiz. A number of other countries are just waiting for rankings. Reply #1110. Jul 30 13, 1:00 PM |

My Guatemala quiz has been ranked #44896. Does that count? :) http://www.funtrivia.com/quizdetails.cfm?quiz=360008 Reply #1112. Aug 13 13, 9:11 AM |

The current Guatemala quiz is 3248 so it would not replace that one. Reply #1113. Aug 13 13, 9:53 AM |

But it will do for a reserve, and Kyle can remove Guatemala from the top of the page. :) Reply #1114. Aug 13 13, 12:38 PM |

Is my Cape Verde quiz a reserve quiz even though it didn't get such a high rank? I liked what I wrote and I learned a lot making it. My quiz was only the second in the geography category for Cape Verde. Reply #1117. Aug 13 13, 3:02 PM |

If you look closely, you will see that Cape Verde has been removed from the top of the page - I have listed it as a reserve quiz despite its (unwarrantedly, in my opinion) low ranking. If anyone would like to play the quiz and help it achieve a ranking commensurate with its quality, you can find it here: http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/Journey-to-Cape-Verde--361147.html Reply #1118. Does Senegal still need a new quiz? I've written one just because I felt like it and it's almost ready for submission. Then saw that it's on the list. So if no one else has it in their sights, I'll take it. :-) Reply #1119. Aug 18 13, 3:42 AM |

there has been one written but not yet ranked. But that doesn't make it iron-clad - I register all new quizzes that look as if they may be appropriate, whether registered here or not, and check to see which comes in with the highest ranking if there are more than the minimum. Two highest ranked quizzes get rostered on, but if a third quiz is really close I do have a column in which I record spares. I refuse to go past three quizzes for any country, although I could for some, because my spreadsheet would stop fitting onto a single screen. :) Reply #1120. Aug 18 13, 4:39 AM |
