While the replacement of low-ranked quizzes is a continuing goal, preparation of extra quizzes to introduce variety for the tourists is also important now that the Bus Ride is well-established. Some tourists have been around the world over ten times, and even nice quizzes get repetitive. The lowest-ranked quiz currently used for the tour has a ranking that is roughly in the top third of all quizzes, so replacement is not an urgent matter, but we would still like to have new quizzes of a suitable quality to use as replacements, to provide a bit of diversity for those players who have played every day since the beginning, and who have probably memorised the answers to the current quizzes.
If you create a new quiz on a Bus Ride country, get it placed online, and have it place within a reasonable ranking, it may be rotated in to provide a more diverse program. Should your quiz manage a higher ranking than the current entry, it could become the permanent fixture, waiting for a future challenger. As an added bonus, we have modified the ratings system to give all quizzes in our rotation a ratings bump.
Feel free to use this thread to also "claim" a country so that you don't duplicate someone else's effort, and make sure to follow along with our later posts and updates to make sure that everything is in order. We look forward to seeing what you can come up with!

No claiming on the Bus Ride - but posting your plan does mean that other authors who visit here will know they would make better use of their time looking after another country. I look at all new quizzes to see if they will work, and the two highest-ranked for each country are on the list. Exception - some countries such as the US have too many quizzes, and I exercise some personal taste in making my selections there. Most countries are struggling to have two good quizzes. Forgot to add - are there any questions / subjects absolutely not allowed in country quizzes? I know there's a moratorium on capital city questions. I ask cos I don't want to replicate the current Belize quiz, and I've only done one Geography quiz so far. Reply #1191. Aug 12 14, 11:49 AM |

Are there any questions / subjects absolutely not allowed in country quizzes? A Geography editor would be better placed to answer this definitively, but avoid questions with numerical answers,especially populations,as they are far too likely to change. Players don't rate number questions well, and you need a popular quiz for the Bus Ride. Geography expects the questions to be about an aspect of geography, not famous people, cultural events, etc. If you want to use more wide-ranging subjects, consider using General - Country Specific as the category for your quiz. I am finishing and will be (submitting by the weekend) an Estonia quiz. Their are several Geo Estonia quizzes so this one is more far-reaching, more a cultural identity quiz (so it will go in the General Mixed Other Countries Sub-cat) but it was originally started (and finished) as a contender for the bus ride as well as a tribute to the only part of my heritage that is not descended from a convict. The current quiz is ranked 17187. I check all new quizzes on a Bus ride country to see if they both seem to be of an appropriate level of difficulty (the tourists hate it when the quiz is too hard, so they don't score the day, which leads to poor ratings) and ranks at least comparably with the current one.
