Is the Cayman Islands included in the bus tour? I made a quiz about it awhile ago if you fancy including it! http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/Come-to-the-Cayman-Islands-323789.html Reply #621. Apr 14 11, 11:13 PM |

Thanks to all who have posted suggestions since the last rotation of quizzes on the Bus Ride. I have currently got a list of the countries on the tour, annotated to show which ones need replacement because they are lowly-ranked, and who if anyone has volunteered for them. I also have a list of alternative quizzes for many countries, called my Fringe list – for this circuit, I am posting them on the Bus Ride chatboard as recommended alternative quizzes. Many of the suggested quizzes posted on this thread are there, and also on the third list, of alternates for future rotations. For a number of countries there is as yet no second option at all, and for more than that there is no good alternative. The third list under construction is a good alternative for each country, so that eventually there will be two good quizzes to choose from for each country. This is what I am calling my Alternates list. It is still very incomplete! A lot of the suggested quizzes appear there already. I am not including any with a current ranking over 25,000, as that is the cutoff where Terry has indicated he would be happy to have quizzes replaced to have more interesting and popular quizzes on the tour. My personal focus is getting one good quiz for every country. I have scoured the site in an effort to find the best one I could, and keep my eyes peeled for all new quizzes that look like they might be candidates. The lists I post periodically of countries in need of quizzes are based there. Once we get one good one for each country, I will be shifting emphasis onto completing the Alternatives list, so that Terry can rotate and create a fresh look at regular (or irregular) intervals. After that, which shouldn't take more than a decade or so, I think I will relax and just recommend new quizzes that really look special. Of course, like painting the Harbour Bridge, it may well be time to start over from the beginning. Quizzes in categories other than Geography need to be carefully selected with the needs of the Bus Ride in mind. Sports quizzes, for example, will receive a dreadful reception if they are about the details of the sport, and ask questions about the performances of individuals. A quiz that conveys why that sport is culturally important in the country, however, could work. Cayman Islands is not a bus stop - too bad, it's a nice quiz! Reply #623. Apr 16 11, 8:03 PM |

No worries. Just thought I'd ask! : ) I'll check the list and see what else is up for grabs. I saw someone else already did Sri Lanka so I abandoned that one. Reply #624. Apr 16 11, 9:09 PM |

There is a Sri Lanka quiz, and even a spare, but neither is very good, and it is a definite on my list of those needing a replacement. Unless you have spotted something I missed :) Reply #625. Apr 16 11, 10:12 PM |

Well I am just unsure of what country to take next. I figure I can help out, provided you don't think my geography quizzes crappy and don't want me to take any more. : ) Any quick suggestions on the top 5 that need changing fast? Reply #626. Apr 16 11, 10:34 PM |

First, I have already included your Cayman Islands quiz as one of the Fringe quizzes for a Caribbean country without a second quiz - you write great geography quizzes, but that one wasn't a country we can use :( My top 10 replacement list at the moment (not including countries that have had a volunteer even if they haven't done anything about it for a while) is: 1 Chad 2 Zambia 3 Cote d'Ivoire 4 Georgia 5 United Arab Emirates 6 Uruguay 7 Equatorial Guinea 8 Lebanon 9 Taiwan 10Comoros As I am on holiday this week, I may well tackle one or more of these. If anyone else wants one, I would appreciate it if they posted here, so we don't duplicate our efforts! And, as always, anyone is free to write a quiz on any country that takes their fancy. I will check all new contenders, and make recommendations to Terry based on rankings - I assume that quizzes that are not popular with players who chose to play it voluntarily will not be better received by the general populace, so lowly-ranked new quizzes don't get my recommendation to replace current quizzes. Although it still might make it to the Alternatives list, which is desperately short of entries. Don't ask me right now which countries are the most in need of duplicates - I am currently compiling a comprehensive list of those with good alternatives (some, like the USA, have too many to cope with), those with not-so-good-in-fact-have-been-replaced-on the-tour quizzes, and those with absolutely no alternatives, which are the ones that are most in need of new quizzes. There are an awful lot of them! Reply #627. Apr 16 11, 10:56 PM |

Well I'll take on Chad and Georgia. I think I can whip something up for both in the next week or so. A bit swamped with work but I always find time for quiz making! Reply #628. Apr 16 11, 11:33 PM |

I also just noticed that my Fringe quiz for Sri Lanka is a definite good replacement for the current one, so it only needs an alternative one. Reply #629. Apr 16 11, 11:56 PM |

I'll do a quiz on Uruguay, but in World, not Geography with a 'cultural' mix. Reply #630. Apr 17 11, 3:40 AM |

Great, I have noted all three of those countries. Different takes, especially World with a cultural focus, or History, are more than welcome! That's a good way to offer variety if we have alternate lists, since it's not easy to create two totally different yet readily accessible and interesting quizzes with a Geography slant. Reply #631.
