Subject: What Song am I?

Posted by: Mariamir
Date: Nov 29 12

Following the same rules as the other "What ____ am I" threads, the point of this thread is that you ask yes or no questions until someone guesses the correct song. That same person then chooses the next song.

Fire away!

Julie? Joanie? Juanita? Couldn't be Jabberwocky, surely not!

I remember a song called Jackie Blue by Ozark Mountain Daredevils but I think it's never been spelt as one word and it's probably not the answer anyway. This is a fiendishly clever puzzle, I shall await more clues.

Okay a cryptic clue - "may be something will ring a bell"... (in relation to the band not the song..)

Church bell? School bell? Right now I feel like a dumb bell.

Am I likely to scream "Aaaaargh, how could I have not known the answer?" when it's finally revealed? Was it number one in Australia? Were they ever on Countdown? Have they toured here? Is it a popular girl's name?

Help!

I did say it was not a well known band but one of my all time favourite. Bell is in the name of the band's second album. The band's name also has connections with bells.

Am I likely to scream "Aaaaargh, how could I have not known the answer?" when it's finally revealed? Probably Not... Was it number one in Australia? Don't think so but think in the top 10 but google is not telling me. Were they ever on Countdown? Not think so. Have they toured here? No, have toured Europe. Is it a popular girl's name? In the top 100 names I think...

Hmmm. I think this may be a band I know little of. If there were more people on this thread, I'd let them go for it. I may have to ask for one more clue.
Any chance of disclosing a few more of their songs. I won't Google, it's not my style to do that. But maybe some album tracks may jog the memory, or one or two lesser known songs. Or even band member's names. And I would like you to do the next question too, another music one. If there are still no other players.

Duh! Of course it will be another music one, I think I'm confusing this thread with Who The Heck Am I thread.

The band is named after a Russian physiologist and what he used as his experimental subject.

Is it Pavlov's Dog? I heard an album of theirs called Pampered Menial way back when but I've completely forgotten about them since. I can't remember them being in the singles chart. What's the song?

And go for it again!

I must have missed it, can't remember it at all.

Are you going on with this or shall I continue it?

Late 80's song about a woman who constantly refers to another woman looking down on her from a poster on her wall. The woman in the poster was a well known actress, sort of a siren or vamp, that sort of thing.

I started to wonder what the song may be, but then I realized I was assuming it was a female singer. Maybe I shouldn't do that, so I'll ask: it is a woman singing?

It's okay, you assumed correctly.

No, a bit later in the decade. This singer/songwriter also wrote a song about the coffee shop featured in Seinfeld. Its real name, not Monks.

I think that was 70's, from Tapestry.

I'll quote some lyrics, maybe that will help.

".....her mocking smile says it all
as she records the rise and fall
of every soldier passing....
