Neutrogena soap, followed by whatever moisturiser (within reason) fell off the shelves, but I've just been back to my favourite old chemist in London, and treated myself to their "cucumbers and roses" for the first time in twenty years;
LancĂ´me eye shadow and Max Factor waterproof mascara;
Blisteze stops my lips fraying;
Polyfilla.

Blisteze is magic - cures anything from cold sores to chapped or dry lips... an unsung hero.

Maybelline matte mousse is the best foundation I have found. I have found it quite hard to find a good foundation for my quite oily skin and it is fantastic!

Everyone still calls it Blisteze. I can't begin to fathom what was in the manufacturers' minds when they decided to call it "Blistex Relief Cream formerly known as Blisteze."

That is strange! I just read both your and sherry's reference to "Blisteze" and wondered if that is what we call "BlistEX" here in the US. Sure enough, it is, and that's all I have ever known it as.

Makeup, not much - Neutrogena liquid face wash, Olay moisturizer, Revlon blusher (if needed), good old Cherry Chapstick, and Cover Girl "Lash Exact" NON-waterproof mascara. Any type of waterproof mascara makes my eyelids swell and breakout in itchy bumps for days. It took lots of $$ and eye doctor to figure that out many years ago. I will occasionally wear other/more make-up, but like to keep it simple and do not like the feeling of 'gunk' on my face at all!

Saw for the first time that it had morfed to Blistex when in the chemist yesterday - heaven knows why.... change for changes sake I think.

Bought the Avon lip thing the other day - don't bother, its really not very good at all.

Age Perfect is a good moisturiser for "mature" skins...

sherry,
You're the 3rd person recently that I've heard say they liked the Loreal Age Perfect. I do like and have used a lot of their products and may just give it a try for my 'mature skin'.;) What is the "Avon lip thing"?

Sandy, not worth investigating IMHO. I've bought the odd Avon product over the years and invariably wish I'd saved my money. Dry mascara, immovably compacted eye shadow... (I know some people swear by it - apologies to anyone who is among them. I'm more likely to swear at it but that would be a waste of energy.)

Tesco have a range called b-natural, including a very nice organic moisturiser. Maybe not the best I could be doing for my Mature Skin, but good enough, and I like the smell of the geranium oil in it. It's based on coconut oil - not the dreadful, ubiquitous and, most of all, cheap, mineral oil.

I haven't heard of the "b-natural", but I agree, I don't like Avon. I have a couple frinds who sell it and make decent money doing it. I feel bad when I tell them not to bother giving me a catalogue because I won't be buying anything, but I won't waste money to make someone else feel good when I know it's not going anywhere near my face.

Agree totally, but allowed myself to be persuaded after years, with local new lady who called round a couple fo weeks ago - big mistake!

eye shadow was cakey and not the colour in book... the lipstuff was called Anewclinical plump and smooth - really crapola.

I tend to find the best thing for hiding wrinkles is a balaclava :)
Sorry, couldn't help myself. Those L'oreal and Oil of Ulay ads make me giggle with all the pentapeptides and probisamol etc etc etc. Do they actually work?

Sandy, I had the same problem with my eyelids years ago with mascara. AND trips to doctor, trying to find what problem was. After that, for years would only wear Almay Hypoallergenic mascara which seemed to help.

"Do they actually work?"
Course they don't! One pentapeptide after another is what keeps the market moving!

Polyfilla is good, as witness the testimonials on these pages. The only other thing that might work is a warm iron. Balaclava if all else fails.

I swear by "Meaningful Beauty" by Cindy Crawford. If I can't afford that, I use Ponds cold cream and a mosturizing facial wash followed by toner and Dove facial mosturizer.
I also love Bare Minerals foundation, or DermaBlend.

ClaraSue, I also used Almay for years. After a couple hits and misses though, I did find that any Cover Girl washable is one I can use with no worries. Isn't that "allergy" a horrid one to go through? My sons and friends even had a name for it - "Lizard Eyes";)

Don't ya' just love kids and their pet names? ;-)
I had to go weeks without eye makeup and at age 20-something, I was just horrified to be seen in public like that! Thank goodness I got over that!

I don't have a favorite brand of cosmetics, so I have tried different brands.

But I have used bronzer as an eyeshadow because it looks natural.
