Mel Gibson in Braveheart. A travesty for the acting as well as the accents. Reply #7. Mar 25 11, 11:30 AM |

I'm tempted to agree with Dreddloxx, but I'll nominate the duo of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in "Far and Away." Reply #9. Mar 25 11, 1:05 PM |

Ever see the movie "The Jackal" starring Bruce Willis & Richard Gere? Richard Gere is supposed to be an Irish fellow in that movie & he does a pretty bad Irish accent. If you listen closely, he loses his "Irish" accent quite a few times throughout the film! :) Reply #10. Mar 25 11, 1:14 PM |

My vote goes to Renee Zeillweigger (I've probably spelled her name incorrectly) as Bridget Jones. What, they couldn't find a British actress to play that part? She was just plain awful and sounded as if she had a mouth full of small stones. Audrey Hepburn's Cockney accent in 'My Fair Lady' fell short of the mark, too. She should have spent more time listening to Stanley Holloway (the actor who played Eliza's father, Alfie Doolittle) to get it right. Ms Hepburn's Cockney was too, too refined. Nor was I impressed with Vivien Leigh's pseudo-southern accent in 'Gone With the Wind'. (Leslie Howard wasn't much better as Ashley Wilkes!) Reply #11. May 19 11, 6:31 PM |

I agree with all of the previous posts. Another nomination for worst accent(s) goes to the entire cast of "Murder She Wrote". Not one of the characters of 'Cabot Cove' came close to a Maine dialect. (shudder, shudder) Reply #12. May 20 11, 4:49 PM |

I haven't heard the Main accent often enough to know for sure, but didn't Tom Bosley (who played Amos, the first sheriff in the series), and William Windom (who played Dr. Seth) some pretty close? Reply #13. May 24 11, 9:49 PM |

Any movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Rutger Hauer speaks with an American accent when the film dictates the need. Tim Roth and Gary Oldman do it quite well also. I think Arnold's accent is somewhat contrived and deliberatly made to sound as it does. It should be a registered trademark. Although a bad one. Reply #15. May 26 11, 9:38 PM |

Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy in the Kennedy series was just God awful. I had to mute it when she was on screen. Reply #16. May 26 11, 10:13 PM |

Sasha, it's not just Katie Holmes' Jackie-Kernnedy-accent that us bad, so is her acting! One wonders if she'd be getting starring roles if she wasn't marriued to Tom Cruise. The woman has all the pizzaz of a damp mop. Reply #17. May 30 11, 6:03 PM |
