Subject: The New Christmas Classic

Ah, the Christmas Day movie marathon.
"It's A Wonderful Life" was the quintessential Christmas day movie for years.
In 1997, TBS started a new tradition with an all day Christmas day showing of "A Christmas Story".
While both movies will always be classics, sooner or later a new tradition will begin.

What Christmas movies do you think have the potential to one day be the new classic?

I think "Home Alone", "The Santa Clause", and perhaps even "Elf" are in the running.

One for the children: "The Snowman" is nearly thirty years old, and still magic. "Children" has nothing to do with age!

I've never heard of it but it seems like a cute story.

Have you found 25 minutes to watch the clip? It's not only the story and the animation - the music is perfect too.

In Australia it's not Christmas Night without National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

"Olive the other Reindeer" has become a tradition in my household. I had to buy it a couple of years ago because it wasn't being shown on tv anymore.

I hadn't heard of "Olive, the Other Reindeer" but I've just watched it in five shiny parts, on YouTube. Great fun, only a bit schmaltzy... and who but Matt Groening would have a full menorah burning at the North Pole?

Thanks, Lesley! I never thought to check Youtube. We saw it first when son was about 7 and it's been part of our Christmas ever since :))

You're welcome. I just looked a bit further and found it in one shiny part:

It was only uploaded a fortnight ago, so I hope it lasts.
