The latest offing of this Dickens classic tale is one of the best films i have watched in the past few months, with a superb cast including Ralph Finnes, Helena Bonham Carter and Robbie Coltrane.
It keeps faithfully to the story i first read when i was 11 years old and the characters i enjoyed sprang off the pages of the book in this well worked movie version.
With Pip, Joe and miss Haversham all as i imagined them from when i read the book. Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Haversham brought a bit of Les Miserables to the tale as she seemed to have forgot she was not Madame Thenardierin this film but Miss Haversham.
The appearance of David Walliams in a minor role was a pleasant surprise, The tale of pip has been brought bang up to date but to me Sir John Mills version will always be my favourite.
