Aladdin's genie, who was only ever called Genie, lived in a lamp. The lamp was originally located in the Cave of Wonders until Aladdin took it. The genie, voiced by Robin Williams, had phenomenal cosmic powers (at least until Aladdin used his final wish to free him). Unlike other people, the genie only had four fingers.
The peddler seen at the beginning of the film was originally intended to be the genie, although that idea didn't end up being used. There were still two hints in the movie related to this. First, he was also voiced by Robin Williams. Second, he and the genie were the only two people with four fingers.

Aladdin sends Abu to steal the melon, and when he breaks it in half, he first notices her.

After Aladdin released Genie from the lamp, Genie sang that Aladdin had never had a friend like him while they were still trapped in the Cave of Wonders. It was Aladdin who tricked Genie into freeing him without using any of Aladdin's three wishes.

While Aladdin grabbed the lamp, Abu tried to grab a ruby. However, this caused the sentient cave to become upset. With the help of the magic carpet, Aladdin and Abu were able to avoid being killed even if Jafar did cause them to be trapped in the cave. (Having already touched the ruby, there was no further danger with using the magic carpet, even though it was also an object in the cave.)

Aladdin is forever running away from this one guard, who always seems to be one step behind him. He captures Aladdin, under Jafar's orders, and throws Aladdin into the dungeon. In the dungeon, Jafar, as an old prisioner, convinces Aladdin to enter the Cave of Wonders.

Beast wasn't really a character but he was one of the toys the Sultan was playing with.

Aladdin does not ask for his second wish. The Genie asks Aladdin if he wants to be saved. Aladdin just shakes his head even though he is at the bottom of the sea.
