When the cave of wonders rose from the sand, it was shaped like a tiger's head. The cave spoke in a deep voice that told only a diamond in the rough could enter the cave. Jafar tried to get a man to go inside, but the cave swallowed the man. When Jafar disguised himself as an elderly man and had Aladdin go in, the cave accepted Aladdin until Abu touched a ruby he wasn't supposed to touch.

Iago stole the lamp from Aladdin and gave it to Jafar. For each of his wishes, Jafar wanted to become someone. First, it was sultan of Agrabah. When he learned that the citizens would never bow down to him, Jafar wished to be a sorcerer. Finally, Aladdin told Jafar that the genie would always have more power than him, so Jafar wished to become a genie. However, all genies must start out in the lamp, and therefore, a genie's lamp magically appeared pulling Jafar into it.

After Aladdin tricked Jafar into becoming a genie, Jafar became trapped in the genie's lamp. Iago tried to fly away, but Jafar grabbed him and pulled him into the lamp over Iago's protests.
