In "Crocodile Dundee" (1986), one of Australia's most popular movies internationally, there is a scene where Mick Dundee has to stare down a dangerous wild animal in order for Mick's party to get past. What type of animal is this?
Answer: Water Buffalo
"Crocodile Dundee" has been one of the most successful Australian films at the box office. Not bad for Paul Hogan's first film (as a writer) although he had years of practice writing for his long running TV show, "The Paul Hogan Show" (1973-1984).
PS While water buffalo are common in the northern part of Australia, they are an introduced species. The water buffalo in the movie was a Wild Asian Water Buffalo
