Chicago Trivia Questions

1. 'Ask any of the chickies in my pen, they'll tell you I'm the biggest mother hen. I love them all, and all of them love me, because the system works, the system called reciprocity.'

From Quiz
Chicago - Music from the Movie

Answer: When You're Good to Mama

Mama is played by Queen Latifah, who belts out this very funny song, after a brief introduction by bandleader Taye Diggs. The song is staged in a nightclub where Queen Latifah moves among the patrons, adding very ribald movements to match the words. As entertaining as it is, it also serves to identify the atmosphere in the women's prison at the time, where one hand literally washes the other. Interspersed with the nightclub scenes are cuts from Roxie being processed into prison, her naivete a wonderful contrast to Mama's blatant corruption.

2. What is the correct order in the song?

From Quiz "Cell Block Tango" from the movie "Chicago"

Answer: Pop, six, squish, uh-uh, Cicero, Lipschitz

Each word symbolizes what happened to each woman on Murderesses Row when they committed the crime. For example, Annie killed her boyfriend when she found out he had "six" other wives. And Velma killed her sister and husband at the Hotel "Cicero" when she discovered them sleeping together.

3. In the opening scene, when Velma is getting out of the cab, she says, "Keep the change...". Who does she tell to keep the change?

From Quiz "And All That Jazz"

Answer: Charlie

I just found it funny that the cab driver's name is the same as Velma's deceased husband.

4. Finish the lyric: "Pop, six, squish, uh uh, Cicero...."

From Quiz Lalibean and Tenkeynator's Ultimate "Chicago" Quiz

Answer: Lipschitz

This is the chant repeated during the "Cell Block Tango", the most amazing number in the film. Lipschitz was the artistic guy that Mya killed because he cheated on her with two women and a man.

5. Hunyak (the Hungarian) appears in the movie once more after her death. What musical number was she in?

From Quiz "Chicago", The Movie

Answer: Razzle Dazzle

If you look closely, Hunyak was the woman Justice during this number (the one with her eyes covered, holding the scales).

6. "Come on babe, why don't we paint the town? And __________."

From Quiz That's "Chicago"!

Answer: all that jazz

Sung by Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta-Jones) in the opening song right after she kills her husband and sister.

7. At which club did Roxie Hart see Velma Kelly perform at the beginning of the film?

9. 'My sister and I had a act that couldn't flop. My sister and I were headed straight for the top. My sister and I earned a thou a week at least. Oh yeah. But my sister is now, unfortunately, deceased.'

From Quiz Chicago - Music from the Movie

Answer: I Can't Do It Alone

Catherine Zeta-Jones, playing Velma Kelly, sings this song to Roxie, played by Renee Zellweger. Bandleader Taye Diggs introduces this song with the very funny line, 'Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Velma Kelly, in an act of desperation'. Velma's notoriety has been eclipsed by Roxie's new fame, and she is desperately, if also reluctantly, trying to make a partner out of Roxie, so that she can piggy-back her way back into the spotlight.

10. "So I took the shotgun off the wall and I fired two warning shots into _________________."

From Quiz "Cell Block Tango" from the movie "Chicago"

Answer: his head

Liz was sick of hearing her husband popping his gum all the time. One night, she came home from work, after a hard day, and he was popping his gum. She couldn't take it anymore, so she shot him.

11. Once again, in the opening scene, Velma rips a poster that advertises her and her sister's act. What does it say on the poster under Veronica and Velma's names?

From Quiz "And All That Jazz"

Answer: Themselves

There were about three posters on the outside of the club advertising the Kelly sisters' act. Velma had just murdered her sister and her husband, and ripped the poster as she walked by.

12. Who did the original choreography for "Chicago"?

From Quiz Lalibean and Tenkeynator's Ultimate "Chicago" Quiz

Answer: Bob Fosse

Bob Fosse was known for his choreography that focused on isloated movements and his use of hats as props. See if you can find the one scene in which hats are used.

13. Catherine Zeta-Jones has a noticeable scar in the movie, which she also has in real life. What kind of scar is it?

From Quiz "Chicago", The Movie

Love of lending a hand to someone who really needs you. Love of your fellow man. That's the kind of love I'm talkin' about. And physical love ain't so bad either."

17. 'While trucking down the road of life, although all hope seems gone, I just move on. When I can't find a single star to hang my wish upon, I just move on.'

From Quiz Chicago - Music from the Movie

From Quiz Chicago - Music from the Movie

Answer: All That Jazz

This very powerful opening number is sung by Catherine Zeta-Jones, as Velma Kelly, in a Cabaret-style, choreographed dance. There is one brief line where Roxie, who is watching the performance, imagines herself in Zeta-Jones' place, which gives us the first sign of Roxie's rich fanatasy world. Velma is performing this song solo for the first time, having just killed her sister and husband, and is, in fact, arrested upon the song's conclusion.

25. How many times did June say her husband "ran" into her knife?
