Timo ran up behind them with a gun, pointed it to Lyle's head and started yelling. Lyle was really scared, but once he heard his friend laughing, he was really angry. Timo Cruz was a very troubled teen. He was into drugs, guns, and all sorts of bad things. His cousin Renny got shot when he didn't make a good drug deal.

Worm is the point guard on the Richmond High basektball team. He is known for his joking around and his love of women.
At the end, when it shows a brief bio for each player, we see Worm's full name as "Jaron Willis." They do not say his real first name or last name anytime before this. They don't even say his real name in the closing credits.
The bio on Worm also includes that he got a scholarship to San Francisco State University and that he played basketball as a point guard there for all 4 years.

Ashanti played Kira in the movie. She was Kenyan's pregnant girlfriend. She has also been in "Bride and Prejudice" and "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz". She started her singing career in 1994 after being seen in a talent show. She has been singing since the age of 12.

When Kenyan thought he and Kira were alone, Miles started crying and Kira had to comfort the boy. Kira was pregnant and she was trying to teach Kenyan how to hold and feed Miles to get ready for their baby. Kenyan decided he wasn't ready for fatherhood yet. Later, Kira decided that she wasn't ready to be a mother, so she had an abortion.

Damien Carter is Coach Carter's son. He is only a freshman in the movie, but is on the varsity basketball team at Richmond High. Damien provides a look at how Coach Carter values his family and shows the relationship he has with his son. Damien transfers to Richmond High from St Francis.
St. Francis is where Damien went to during the first part of the movie. High school scenes were filmed at St. Francis High School in Los Angeles, California, even though there is a St. Francis High School in Sacramento, California, which is fairly near Richmond High School.

Worm graciously accepted, and the whole team sneaked out of the hotel that night to attend the party. When Coach Carter was talking to his girlfriend on the phone, he wanted to let Damien talk to her and tell her that he was MVP. When he went to find Damien, Coach Carter saw that his whole team was gone! When he went the party to pick up his team, he found his drunk son making out with an unknown girl.

It says "San Francisco State University" on centercourt. There is also a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. San Francisco is very close to Richmond High School.
The Richmond High team plays St. Francis High School in this game and loses to them. It is the only playoff game that they are in for that season.

They lose to St. Francis - Damien's former school - in this round. This does not matter to him though, because he sat the bench all the time when he played for St. Francis. He does not have an emotional attachment to the school as he does for Richmond. The game is played at San Francisco State University. It is the first, last, and only game that Richmond High play in the playoffs that year.

Ty always tried to be better than Junior and always wanted media coverage so everyone could see how great he was. When asked by a news reporter how he felt about being called the "next LeBron James", Ty said "LeBron James? I'm the only Ty Crane."

Coach Carter is asked to be the coach of the Richmond High basketball team by the former head coach of the team. This coach retired because he was old. He chooses Coach Carter because Carter went to Richmond High and played on the basketball team himself. Coach Carter set records for scoring, steals, and assists back in his day. This coach thinks that Coach Carter will be a great leader for the team.
He is shown at the beginning of the movie handing the job over to Coach Carter. His name is said by Carter several times in the beginning. He is not shown at all in the movie until the end where they are waiting to hear whether or not they made the playoffs.
When Coach Carter is offered the job, he is a little unsure about it. The pay is not great, but it will be a good side job to the sporting goods store that he already owns. Besides, Coach Carter loves the game of basketball, and that's why he ultimately chooses the job.

Dowse, born in 1958 in Honolulu, Hawaii, portrayed Principal Garrison. Garrison was the Principal of Richmond High School and managed the school's finances. Garrison remarked to Coach Carter that she admired his methods of getting his players to do well but felt they were extreme. Garrison noted to Coach Carter that Richmond High School was ranked low on the Academic Performance Index and, thus, the school did not get rewarded by the State of California for good school performance. Due to this, she told him she had less money to pay faculty and staff and that Carter would be lucky to graduate even one of the five seniors on his team. At the meeting to determine if the lockout on the gym should end, Garrison voted to not end the lockout. Dowse guest starred on the TV series "Gilmore Girls", "Law & Order", and "Everwood."

The seniors were Kenyan, Junior, Worm and Jason. Kenyan's girlfriend Kira was pregnant, and Kenyan wanted to do everything he could to help her. Unfortunately, Kenyan was so preoccupied with his school work and with basketball, that he rarely got to see Kira. Junior was a very good basketball player, and had scouts from different colleges coming to watch him play. Worm loved the ladies! Every woman he saw, he tried to ask out. Jason was a very good basketball player, and was a little scared to ask out girls. Worm helped him with that.

Coach Carter says that Linda is his sister and she used to have a big afro. This is who he named their pick-and-roll defense after. Their man-to-man pressure defense is called Diane after another one of his sisters. Their trap defense is called Delila after Coach Carter's childhood sweetheart.

Tanner, a native of Chicago, got to play Jaron "Worm" Willis for the film "Coach Carter." Willis was a good player but he objected to Carter's contract but still signed it if it meant he could play basketball. "Worm" did not always live up to his end of the contract but he still managed to do well enough in school to graduate and go to San Francisco State University on a basketball scholarship. When the Richmond High School boys' varsity basketball team won, in a basketball tournament, the teammates went to a rich man's house since "Worm" got their daughter's phone number and address and learned she was throwing a party. Coach Carter found out where his team was and, when he got to the house, it was revealed that "Worm" made love to the owner's daughter, Susan. Tanner guest starred on the TV series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "NYPD Blue", and "Boston Public."

Timo Cruz is the Richmond High basketball team's shooting guard. He's got a killer three pointer, yet he's got a bit of an attitude. At the beginning of the movie, when Coach Carter is handing out the contracts to the players, Timo gives Coach attitude and then is asked to leave the gym. Timo wants to come back on the team, but Coach Carter says that first he has to do so many suicides and push-ups.
He does not complete all of them by the deadline, so his teammates help him finish the rest. The idea to help him is initiated by Jason Lyle - a teammate who actually doesn't get along with Timo very well earlier on in the movie.
