trivia question Quick Question
What was revealed to be Simon Skinner's childhood nickname?

27 What was Nicholas' connection with the first two murder victims?
Answer: He had stopped them for speeding earlier that same day.

The first two murder victims were Eve Draper and Martin Blower, two aspiring actors who took part in a dreadful performance of 'Romeo and Juliet' on the eve of their murders. As Nicholas later finds out, the NWA killed Martin Blower for being a terrible actor and having an affair with Eve Draper, and they killed Eve Draper for having an annoying laugh.

Simon Skinner: "He was simply an appalling actor."
Nicholas Angel: "You murdered him for that?!"
Simon Skinner: "Well he murdered Bill Shakespeare!"
Nicholas Angel: "What?!? [realizing] Oh..."
28 Why did the NWA execute George Merchant?
Answer: He had a terrible house

Simon Skinner admitted that Merchant's fate was due to his house "not being in keeping with the village's rustic aesthetic" a fact that Angel himself pointed out whilst escorting Merchant home after he had spent a night getting drunk in The Crown. When Merchant got home, he was hit over the head and left in the kitchen. The killer left bacon and beans on the cooking appliances and left the gas on, making the death seem like an accident.
29 What is the name of the local pub?
Answer: The Crown

Danny suggests almost every night that they go to this local pub and Angel tries his best not to get drunk by drinking cranberry juice.

30 There are a lot of well-known British actors in "Hot Fuzz" and the duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost were the main characters in "Shaun of the Dead" too. What piece of dialogue appears in both films?
Answer: "Do you want anything from the shop?"; "Cornetto!"

This line appears near the beginning of "Shaun of the Dead" with Pegg's character asking Frost, who's playing a computer game. In "Hot Fuzz", Frost's character asks Pegg, when they're sitting in their police car outside the village shop. When they go in for the ice creams, the shop lady asks if they've "had any luck catching them killers, then?" This tips Nicholas Angel off to the fact that there is more than one killer.
The "Thanks, babe" quotation was used both in "Shaun of the Dead" and the TV show "Spaced". It was apparently re-used unwittingly, as in both cases, Pegg and Frosts's characters are very close friends.
The tea quotation is from "Spaced" and the "I love my mum!" one is from "Shaun of the Dead". They are all brilliant so if you haven't seen them and you enjoyed "Hot Fuzz", they are must-sees!
31 What are the surnames of the "Andies"?
Answer: Wainwright and Cartwright

Nick is being given a tour of the station and meets the "Andies". They both have mustaches and decide they don't like Nick.

32 Nicholas has a hard time fitting in at Sandford Police Station at first. What does he find taped to the inside door of his locker one day?
Answer: A graffitied version of the newspaper article written about him.

This isn't the only prank played on him. Someone writes an insulting name on the inside of the brim of his hat, and in a deleted scene, his locker was filled with apples that spilled on top of him when he opened it. In one of the commentaries, Simon Pegg revealed that his wife was very upset when she saw that part of the movie, as she didn't like the idea of him being picked on!
33 Who supposedly killed Nicholas Angel with a knife at the castle?
Answer: Danny Butterman

Danny stabbed Nicholas in the shoulder where, unbeknownst to the rest of the NWA Danny had placed Angel's notebook with a packet of ketchup concealed inside giving the illusion of blood. Due to this, Danny drove Angel's "corpse" away allowing him to escape but Angel later returned to deal with the NWA.
34 What is the name of the farm that there is "a spot of bother" at?
Answer: Elroy Farm

The farmer had been cutting down other people's hedges. Angel uncovers a whole armoury of unlicensed firearms at the farm including an old sea mine.

35 There was some graffiti on the well. What letter was on there?
Answer: G

This is spotted moments before Danny reverses, drunk, into the well. Danny goes to the local pub every night and drinks pint after pint of lager, and gets drunk. After Danny crashes, Nick takes Danny out of the car and says "I'm taking you to the station... Where is it?"

36 When newspaper editor Tim Messenger is murdered, he is waiting to meet with Nicholas. Where did they arrange to meet?
Answer: Church yard

Nicholas comes running round the corner of the church just in time to see Tim Messenger have his head blown off by a bit of falling masonry. His death is actually foreshadowed several times in the preceding scene, with such lines as "Somebody's going to get a surprise at 3 o' clock this afternoon!" and when Tim's name comes out of the raffle "Tim, your number's up!".

In one of the commentaries, Edgar Wright revealed that when Tim's body falls forward, it was actually a stunt man who had his head bent to one side. Apparently this was one of the most dangerous stunts done in the movie, because the stunt man was putting his neck at risk and couldn't see what he was doing.
37 What or who persuaded Angel to return to Sandford?
Answer: Action DVDs

Angel had left the village after being rescued by Danny and was at a service station, when he saw some of the action DVDs that he and Danny had bonded over including "Point Break" and "Bad Boys 2". This persuaded him to return to Sandford and overthrow the NWA and their evil reign of terror.
38 What is the name of the man who owns the large mansion?
Answer: George Merchant

Angel notes that the mansion wasn't "in keeping with the village's rustic aesthetic."

39 Finally winning the support of the rest of Sandford's police team, Nicholas and the team go to find the big boss Skinner. A shoot-out ensues inside the supermarket and one of the Andys gets what over his face?
Answer: Bolognese sauce

"It's OK Andy, it's just bolognese!" he yells at the other Andy who thinks his partner's been shot in the face. I don't know why that line's so funny, it just is!
Angel manages to dispatch the massive trolley boy into the freezers and Danny asks if he said something like "Cool off". He replies that he didn't, but tells Danny that earlier in his hotel room, he took his cuddly monkey away from the trolley boy who was attacking him and said "Playtime's over" before hitting him on the head with his Japanese Peace Lily. Danny is suitably impressed with this.

Answer: 7 across

Receptionist: 'I hope you had a nice trip. Fascist!'
Nick: 'I beg your pardon?'
Receptionist: 'System of government, characterized by extreme dictatorship. 7 across!'
Nick: 'Oh, I see, it's "fascism"'

41 Fittingly, the last line of the film is delivered by Nicholas Angel. What is it?
Answer: "Sergeant Butterman...the little hand says it's time to rock and roll."

Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg said that they deliberately made Nicholas look more authoritative and almost Nazi-like in the last scene so as to create the impression that maybe Sandford had gone from being controlled by a pseudo-fascist town improvement group to being controlled by a pseudo-fascist police force!

I hope you enjoyed taking my quiz. Please rate before you go!
42 How did Angel return to Sandford?
Answer: Car and white horse

Angel armed himself with the weapons confiscated from Elroy Farm and slowly moved down Sandford High Street. There a massive gunfight ensued, pitting Angel, Danny and eventually the rest of the police service against the NWA, who all seemed to have concealed guns somewhere on their person in preparation for an attack.

The killer then covers their tracks by applying fry-up ingredients onto the cooking appliances.
Question Reference: Quiz: Hot Fuzz.

Answer: Mr Treacher

After Angel left his horse, there was a long staredown between him and Mr Treacher which culminated in Angel uttering the single word, "Morning." This prompted Mr Treacher to produce a gun from underneath his coat and begin to shoot at Nicholas. This triggered an enormous gunfight.
45 What foodstuff was splattered all over one of the CID team, prompting his partner to shoot blindly?
Answer: Bolognaise

A fork was thrown towards him as he leant against an aisle during a fight in a supermarket. This broke a tub of Bolognaise sauce and it splattered all over Andy's head. His comrade believed it was blood and shot blindly at their attackers before Andy enlightened him with the very funny line "Don't worry Andy it's just bolognaise."
46 What did Skinner ask for after being impaled on a model building?
Answer: Ice-Cream

Angel pursued Skinner to the model village where they engaged in a fistfight in which Skinner slipped and the spire of a building went through his chin and out of his mouth. He then asked for the ice-cream, to which Angel replied that there was plenty of ice-cream at the station.
47 How was Frank Butterman apprehended?
Answer: Attacked by swan causing a car crash

Frank tried to make a break for it in Angel's car without knowing that PI Staker's swan was on the back seat. The swan bit Frank's neck and his car swerved into a tree, allowing Angel and Danny to arrest him and return to the station. Angel's London colleagues offered him the chance to return to London, which he declined and returned to the Sandford station.
