Oddly, Peter's college is never specified, nor is he ever shown going to classes. In the comics, Peter attended the fictional Empire State University, but there's no mention of that school in the film. There's a Columbia sticker (or is it a magnet?) on the side of the refrigerator in Peter and Harry's apartment, but if either of them actually attends classes there, it's never stated outright by anyone in the movie. Aunt May, while in the hospital, complains that Peter is doing too much, what with 'college and a job,' but were it not for that line, we'd have no indication that Peter goes to college at all!

Empire State University is formally identified as Peter's school in 'Spider-Man 2.'

Peter caught up with Mary Jane one night and realized she had just come out of an audition for a play. When Peter asked her how it went, she said it did not go over so well. According to her, the director stated she needed acting lessons so Peter comforted her.

This is reflected in several shots. There is a great one of the Empire State Building. At the end, where Spidey is webslinging, the last shot was supposed to be of the Twin Towers with Spidey on top of them. Sam Raimi removed this and replaced it with the patriotic image of the flag waving.

She is playing live at an open air concert at the 'World Unity Fair'. This is where the Green Goblin first appears to the general public. Before this he had only appeared to the military.
