Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Natalie Portman

Answer: Harvard

An Academy Award-winning actress, Portman actually started her career in her youth, nabbing high profile roles in the 1990s and transitioning into leading ones in later years. She was nominated for her first Oscar for "Closer" (2004), but won for "Black Swan" (2010).

Graduating from high school in 1999, the same year that she appeared in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace", Portman would receive her later education at Harvard, attending for a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, but inevitably focusing on both Hebrew literature and neurobiology. She would graduate Harvard the same year as "La La Land" composer Justin Hurwitz.
2. Conan O'Brien

Answer: Harvard

Although best-known for his decades of hosting on American late night television, Conan O'Brien has dabbled in all manner of TV and audio works, hosting the podcast "Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend" and the travelogue "Conan O'Brien Must Go", writing for both "Saturday Night Live" and "The Simpsons", and occasionally acting in comedic roles.

But his experience before that was significant, and it started at Harvard where he was President of "The Harvard Lampoon". O'Brien spent four years at Harvard, leaving with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Literature in 1985. Interestingly, his father was also an alumnus, graduating from Harvard Medical School.
3. Rashida Jones

Answer: Harvard

A TV actress appearing in comedies like "The Office", "Parks & Recreation", and her own TBC sitcom, "Angie Tribeca", Rashida Jones found fame in Hollywood across decades of acting and screenwriting, but it's also notable that she's the daughter of musician Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton, both extremely accomplished in their own rights.

Originally set to attend Harvard for a career in law, she changed over to a Bachelor of Arts, finding a passion in drama in the mid-1990s and graduating with majors in Religion and Philosophy. Jones graduated in 1997 alongside producer Michael Schur, who co-created "The Office" and "Parks & Rec".
4. Matt Damon

Answer: Harvard

One of the highest-grossing actors of a generation, Matt Damon came to fame as an actor and Oscar-winning screenwriter (alongside Ben Affleck) in the 1990s and persisted with leading roles well into the next decades, becoming an drama star in films like "The Departed" and "The Martian" and a comedic force in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", "Dogma", and the "Ocean's" series.

Damon never graduated from Harvard though he did attend for several years. He left to pursue acting, but it was during his time at Harvard that he wrote the original first draft for what would become "Good Will Hunting". He would receive the Harvard Arts Medal in 2013. Had he graduated in 1992 as intended, he would have graduated alongside Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, screenwriter Geoffrey S. Fletcher, and actor Hill Harper.
5. Tommy Lee Jones

Answer: Harvard

A celebrated actor since he started leading in blockbuster films in the 1990s, Tommy Lee Jones has seen multiple Oscar and Golden Globe nominations (winning an Oscar for his role in "The Fugitive" (1994)), been the recipient of acting awards at Cannes, and shifted into the director's chair in his later years (with the Palme d'Or-nominated "The Homesman" (2015).

With a major in English literature, Jones obtained a Bachelor of Arts at Harvard, graduating as part of the class of 1969. Perhaps most notable about his time there was the fact that he roomed with future American Vice President Al Gore.
6. Jimmy Stewart

Answer: Princeton

One of the most highly-regarded American actors working in Hollywood in the 20th century, Jimmy Stewart received five Oscar nominations for Best Actor, winning one in 1940 for "The Philadelphia Story". Stewart started appearing in films in the 1930s, but enlisted in the Army for WWII, returning after the war was over to appear in movies like "It's a Wonderful Life", "Rear Window", and "The Spirit of St. Louis" (before a string of westerns in later years). Before all this, however, he enrolled in Princeton, graduating in 1932 with a Bachelor of Arts specializing in Architecture. It's where he started acting; the rest is history.
7. Brooke Shields

Answer: Princeton

Though originally a model, Brooke Shields moved into feature film acting in the 1980s, crossing over to become a household name acting in movies like "The Blue Lagoon" and TV shows like "Suddenly Susan".

8. David Duchovny

Answer: Princeton

Famously Fox Mulder from "The X-Files" throughout its stop-start run on television, but also starring in "Californication" on Showtime, David Duchovny dabbled in film, TV, and music, getting deeply woven into 1990s and 2000s Hollywood culture.

Duchovny started acting in the late 1980s though, first attending Princeton in 1978 and graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. He would subsequently take that diploma to pursue a Masters of Arts at Yale and, subsequently, start work on a Ph.D thesis that was dropped when he commenced a full-time acting career.
9. Ellie Kemper

Answer: Princeton

Garnering attention from her late-series role on "The Office" (as Erin Hannon) and then starring in the Netflix comedy "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt", Ellie Kemper became one of the comedic actresses to watch in the 2010s, appearing as part of the ensemble casts of "Bridesmaids" (2011) and "21 Jump Street" (2012).

Kemper graduated from Princeton, attending to gain a Bachelor of Arts in English but finding more success in comedy while attending. Though she continued into higher education at Oxford, she left the pursuit of a master's degree a year into her studies, instead pursuing a career in improv, auditioning for "Saturday Night Live", and eventually finding viral fame with CollegeHumor.
10. Ethan Coen

Answer: Princeton
