1. Which character acts as narrator for all of "What If? vol 1"?

Answer: The Watcher

The Watcher can see everything including what could have been. "What If?" looks at what could have happened if Key events in the Marvel Universe had played out differently.
2. Issue #26 (April 1979) "What If Captain America Had Been Elected President", who did Captain America Chose as his running mate?

Answer: Andrew Jackson Hawk

Spiderman did joke to J. J. Jameson that he would be chosen. However Hawk was chosen as he was already a senator with a voting record that Cap approved of and would be able to make up for Cap's lack of experience in politics.
3. Issue #42 (August 1980) "What If The Invisible Girl Had Died", how did Sue Die?

Answer: During childbirth

Sue's death sends Reed on a destructive path which results in his own death during a fight with Annihilus.
4. Issue #43 (September 1980) "What If Conan The Barbarian Was Stranded in The 20th Centaury", What Does Conan steal from the pawn shop?

Answer: A knife

Conan prefers knifes to guns which he though of as just fancied up slings.

Answer: Cynthia Von Doom

Cynthia was his mother who was executed for witchcraft before she could confess. As a result of this her spirit is trapped in the Nether World forever.
6. Issue #37 (March 1980) "What If Beast And The Thing Continued To Mutate?": What happened when the radiation building up in Ben Grimm was released?

Answer: Alicia is able to see again

As the radiation that had been building up in Ben's cells was released Reed warned everyone to look away as it could affect their eyes. This is exactly what happened and the blind Alicia regained her sight. Ben survived this process and ceased to be The Thing
7. Issue #45 (November 1980) "What If The Hulk Went Berserk?", who eventually killed The Hulk?

Answer: Thor

The Hulk killed both Ben Grimm and Iron Man. It is Thor who is eventually able to kill the Hulk who reverts to the form of Bruce Banner. Thor uses the power of lightning to burn the body so that Bruce may have honour in death.
8. Issue #19 (September 1978) "What if Spiderman Had Never Been A Crimefighter?", what does Peter Parker become instead of a crimefighter?

Answer: An agent

Peter sets himself up as an agent with Daredevil as his main client. Even in this Universe however Spiderman runs foul of J. J. Jameson who hires several supervillians to try and kill him.
9. Issue #31 (September 1979) 'What If Wolverine Had Killed The Hulk?', what other story was published in this issue?

Answer: What if the Fantastic Four had never been

These were all real secondary stories except for the Bullpen story which had an issue to itself.
10. Issue #27 (May 1979) "What If Phoenix Had Not Died?", how was the Phoenix contained without resorting to Jean Grey's death?

Answer: A Lobotomy was carried out to remove Jean's powers

However this was eventually shown to be ineffective as the phoenix returned during a battle with Galactus to save Cyclops. The return of Phoenix eventually led to the destruction of Earth.
