Officially, Japan bombed Darwin 12 times from 19th February 1942 to 21st August 1943. These raids killed 240 people and 11 ships were sunk. Perth was never invaded nor bombed during WW11.

Another place where the Japanese forces impacted upon Australia was in Sydney Harbour when miniature Japanese submarines entered. Different data cites that Darwin was bombed in over 60 raids from 19th February 1942 to 12th November 1943.

Figures differ as the Government suppressed the truth and presented lesser figures of deaths and raids because they did not want outbursts of panic/fear etc., at the time and thus the figures used today are not in total agreement with each other.
