Bevor - a piece of armour that protected the chin and throat.
Brassard - piece of armour that covered the whole arm, which included vambrace, rerebrace and couter.
Comb - the top of the helmet that was designed to strengthen it. Also known as crest.
Couter - protected the elbow. Also written as cowter.
Cuirass - protected the torso above the waist.
Fauld - worn below the breastplate to protect waist and hips.
Gardbrace - plate that covered the front of the shoulder and the armpit.
Gauntlet - a glove that protected the hand and the wrist.
Greave - protected the leg.
Gorget - protected the neck, throat and upper part of chest.
Plackart - protected the lower half of the torso.
Poleyn - protected the knee.
Sabaton - protected the foot.
Sallet - a combat helmet.
Ventail - covered the lower half of the face.
Other bits and pieces of the armour included, vison slits, visor, palette, corselet, upper and lower cannon, vambrace, tasset and cuisse.
Chenille, chiffon, damask, georgette, gingham, modal, muslin, toile, twill
are all types of fabric.
