Naval Corpsmen are highly respected in the Corps. Many of them were the last face a wounded Marine saw before he was evacuated or died. They trained beside Marines before battle and shared the same hardships and risk without carrying a weapon. Many were awarded The Medal.

Almost every combat infantry Marine wanted a genuine samurai sword. They were great conversation pieces and made excellent trade bait. Japanese pistols were notoriusly inaccurate and unreliable, but they ran a close second as a battlefield trophy.
