Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. White Rabbit

Alice starts her journey on a quiet afternoon as she sits by a river. Suddenly, she spots a White Rabbit run by. He is carrying a pocket watch and is complaining about being late for a date. Alice follows him and falls down the rabbit hole into Wonderland.
2. The Dodo

When Alice lands at the bottom of the rabbit hole, she sees things that say "DRINK ME" or "EAT ME". When she follows these instructions, she changes in size from very small to very large. When she is big, she cries about her situation, but because she is so big her tears become a large lake. Birds and other animals become wet in the lake water and wonder how they will dry off.

Then, a Dodo bird suggests that they have a Caucus-Race to dry off. This is a race where everyone runs around in a circle with no clear winner or loser.

It is a strange race indeed!
3. Caterpillar

Alice runs away from some of the creatures that she has met at her lake of tears and comes upon a caterpillar. It is sitting on a mushroom and smoking a hookah, a middle-eastern pipe. Before he crawls away and leaves her with the mushroom, the caterpillar tells her that she should eat the mushroom to change her height.

He tells her that one side of the mushroom will make her smaller and one side will make her larger. After experimenting by nibbling on both sides, Alice grows and shrinks, back and forth a bit, until she reaches an acceptable size.
4. Duchess

After eating parts of the mushroom, Alice stumbles onto a small estate owned by a Duchess. She lets herself into the house and finds herself in the kitchen where the cook is throwing dishes and making a soup that has far too much pepper. Alice, the Duchess, and her baby sneeze violently, but the cook does not sneeze.
5. Small baby that turns into a pig

After the sneezing incident, the Duchess hands Alice her baby. Surprisingly, the baby turns into a baby pig. Alice isn't sure what to do with the pig, so she releases it into the forest.
6. Floating grin

The Duchess owns a Cheshire Cat who seems to grin constantly. After Alice sends the Duchess' piglet into the woods, the cat appears in a tree and directs her to her next destination. Then, the body of the cat disappears, but its grin remains, apparently floating by itself up in the air. Alice says, "Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin; but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!"
7. March Hare

The Cheshire Cat had directed Alice to the March Hare's house. It is there that she takes part in a tea party with the March Hare, a Hatter, and a very sleepy Dormouse who can't seem to keep his eyes open. The characters at the tea party have tea all day because apparently, Time is punishing the Hatter and has stopped the clocks there at 6:00 pm, or tea time.

There are lots of riddles at the tea party, but Alice gets frustrated and bored with them, so she soon leaves.
8. Three living playing cards

When Alice leaves the tea party, she enters a garden where she happens upon three large, animated playing cards that are painting all of the white roses in the garden red. The Queen of Hearts owns the garden that they are in. The cards explain that they need to paint the roses red because the Queen hates white roses.
9. Queen of Hearts

After the cards explain why they are painting the cards, a procession goes through the garden that includes the King, the Queen of Hearts, other playing cards, and other creatures including the White Rabbit. The Queen of Hearts is difficult to please and is constantly saying "off with his (or her) head" when she gets angry.

She is quick to anger, so this happens a lot. Alice is invited by the Queen to play a game of croquet with her, but the mallets are live flamingoes and the balls are live hedgehogs. Alice finds this quite difficult.
10. Mock turtle

The Queen of Hearts introduces Alice to the Gryphon who, in turn, introduces Alice to the Mock Turtle. The Mock Turtle is very sad. He tells Alice the story of how he used to be a real turtle, but the Gryphon interrupts the story so they can sing and dance to the Lobster Quadrille.
