Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is Archchancellor Mustrum Ridcully's brother?

Answer: The Chief Priest of Blind Io

We eventually learn his name is Hughnon Ridcully. In the wake of the odd events created by the unleashed life force both the wizards and priests show up at the Patrician's Palace. While the others are fighting, first verbally then physically, the two leaders of the magical and religious go aside to trade quiet opinions on the situation.

The priest gets around to saying, "Incidentally, mother says you haven't written lately..."
2. Who built the 'Combination Harvester' which Bill Door tried to outwork?

Answer: Ned Simnel

Iago Peedbury owned the field where the contest took place. Duke Bottomley was one of Miss Flitworth's workers. Cyril was the dyslexic rooster.
3. What stole six hours of Bill Door's life?

Answer: Sleep

Bill Door is, of course, Death who has 'retired' from his anthropomorphic personification position. He has never slept in his, uh, life. He was waiting for sleep to come when noticed that the light had changed and the sand in his lifetimer was lower.
4. How does Bill Door scythe the grass?

Answer: One blade at a time

As Death, Bill Door had never had the need to scythe more than one of anything at a time. He cut the grass one blade at a time, but he was completing rows faster than a man doing it swathe by swathe.
5. What was Death's token when he played "Exclusion Possession"?

Answer: The boot

This is the Discworld's version of Monopoly. Some people will challenge Death to a game in a futile attempt to turn him away. They never win, of course, but Death does tell us that last year someone got three streets and all the utilities.
6. What does Arthur Winkings say caused him to become a vampire?

Answer: A lawyer

He was just a man in the wholesale fruit and vegetable business when he got a letter from a lawyer saying that he was apparently the only surviving relative of his great-great-uncle who just happened to be a vampire. Now he gets pains in his leg if he even thinks about going back to the temple and has a wife that decided to be a vampiress by marriage.

She sometimes forgets her accents and starts pronouncing her double-u's.
7. Take the liver of a certain rare fish and extract of a particular root; administer one spoonful. According to the Lecturer in Recent Runes what do you get?

Answer: A zombie

In a typically tangential conversation, the Lecturer is telling the other wizards how he thinks a man can be changed into a zombie.
8. At the beginning of the book the men of the Ramtops dance a Morris Dance to welcome the spring. What dance do they do at the end of the book?

Answer: The Other Morris

They wear the other costume and the other bells (the ones made of octiron, which don't make noise but rather textured silence). There is no music. They have to do it. They have to do both or they can't do either.
9. In terms of experience, how old was Windle Poons when he died the first time?

Answer: Thirteen

He realized this as he was walking around Ankh-Morpork after having not died because Death had just retired. Well, he had died, but after waiting around in his head for a while with nobody coming for him, he went back to himself.
10. Which of the following characters introduced in 'Reaper Man' does NOT make another appearance in a later novel?

Answer: Miss Flitworth

Reg Shoe, the leader of the Dead Rights Movement, eventually becomes a member of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch and in 'Nightwatch' we see how he died. The Death of Rats makes several appearances, primarily getting Susan Sto Helit to come help when her grandfather (Death) is doing something stupid again. Mrs. Cake is a medium (verging on small) who becomes Angua's landlady in 'Men At Arms' and even gets a mention in the expanded motto of the A-M Postal Service.
