1. The Bear and the
Answer: Travelers
Two travelers, while walking through a forest, confront a bear. One of them climbs quickly on a tree, while the other, rather slower, just lies on the ground playing dead. The bear sniffs the laying man and then walks away.
The one that climbed the tree asked what the bear said to him. He replied, "Never trust someone who deserts you at a difficult time".

During the warmer months the grasshopper was busy chirping away, while the ant was slaving to gather food. When the cold weather started, the then hungry grasshopper begged the ant for some food but the ant refused, highlighting the need for hard work and planning.
3. The Fox and the

The crow found a piece of meat and flew on to a tree to eat. A passing and hungry fox managed, through flattery, to make the crow caw dropping its food which was gladly eaten by the fox.
Be very careful, because people use flattery to take advantage of a given situation.
4. The Dog and its
Answer: Reflection
A dog carrying a piece of meat in its mouth sees its own reflection in the water. Thinking that the other dog had a better piece of meat, opens its mouth and drops the meat in the water.
The moral of the fable is "Don't desire more than you have".
5. The Lion and the
Answer: Mouse
A lion spares the life of a mouse who promises that he will reciprocate. When the lion is trapped in a hunter's net, the mouse chews through the ropes and frees the lion.
The moral of this fable is "Even the smallest being can help someone greater".
6. The Old Man and his
Answer: Sons
The old man seeing his sons constantly quarrelling teaches them a lesson with a bunch of sticks. He brings the bunch of sticks and asks each son in turn to break them and each one fails. He then offers on stick at a time, which each boy in turn is able to break.
The fable teaches that "Each can be overcome alone, but united are unbeatable".
7. The Tortoise and the

A hare constantly teases the tortoise for being so slow. Fed up the tortoise challenges the hare to a race. The hare accepts and in front of many animals the race begins. The hare races towards the finishing line, but when he comes near it, decides to stop and wait until the tortoise arrives before crossing the finishing line. So he sits under a tree and takes a nap. Meanwhile the tortoise steadily covers the distance and reaches the finishing line.
Perseverance can prevail over laziness.
8. The Moon and her
Answer: Mother
The Moon asks her mother to weave her a new garment to fit her measure. The mother replies that this is impossible as the moon's shape changes constantly from very thin, to crescent to full and back again.
No measure of possessions can be applied to a foolish person.

A very hungry fox comes to vine that is full of grapes, but is unable to reach them because the grapes are at a great height. She leaves the vine saying that the grapes were not ripe enough.
People criticize things that they cannot attain, rather than admit their failure.

A fly falls into a soup pot and just before drowning says "Why should I care if I die, when I ate, drunk and had a bath".

A deer is persuaded to visit an ailing lion and when the deer is killed, the fox steals and eats its heart, saying that an animal foolish enough to visit a lion, didn't have a heart.
The ancients believed that the heart was the centre of intellect.
12. The Sick
Answer: Kite
A kite that is very sick asks its mother to pray to the Gods on his behalf. The mother retorts that no prayers can save someone who was robbing the sacrifices from the temples.
To have help in bad times we must make friends when we are prospering.
13. The Travelers and the
Answer: Plane Tree
Two travelers walking in the summer heat find shelter under a plane tree. After resting in the shade of the tree, they start commenting that the plane tree was useless because it didn't bear any fruit.
People often fail to appreciate things they receive, even when these are significant.
14. The Snake and the
Answer: Crab
A crab kills a snake saying that if the snake moved straight, it would still be alive.
Since both creatures don't move in a straight line it is like saying "Calling the kettle black".
15. The Mouse and the
Answer: Oyster
A mouse comes across an oyster and tries to eat it. The oyster snaps shut and the mouse finds both death and a grave.
The moral of the story is not to get trapped in dangerous circumstances.
