1. 1900: According to a song, what does Jesus want me to "shine for Him each day"?

Answer: sunbeam

"I'll Be a Sunbeam," also known as "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam," was written by Edwin O. Excell and Nellie Talbot. It is a children's Christian hymn. It tells of how God can use even children. "Jesus wants me to be loving and kind to all I see."
2. 1902: What song, originally written in German, talks about a type of beetle that "glimmer glimmers." What is the English title of this song made famous by the Mills Brothers?

Answer: The Glow Worm

"The Glow Worm" in German is "Das Gluhwurmchen." Paul Lincke wrote it for his operetta "Lysistrata." Heinz Bolten-Backers wrote the lyrics. Lilla Cayley Robinson wrote the Engish translation, which was used in the 1907 Broadway musical "The Girl Behind the Counter." Johnny Mercer changed this quite a bit for the recording done by the Mills Brothers.
3. 1903: What does George M. Cohan ask us to give his regards to?

Answer: Broadway

Cohan wrote "Give My Regards to Broadway" for "Little Johnny Jones," which opened in New York in 1904. Cohan, himself, played Johnny Jones. Jones's friend was going to America, and Johnny Jones sang the song to him.
4. 1904: According to the song, where should Louis meet me?

Answer: St Louis at the fair

"Meet Me in St Louis" was written for the World's Fair held in St Louis in 1904. In 1944, the song and the World's Fair were central in the musical of the same name, starring Judy Garland.
5. 1905: Complete this title "His Eye is On the ______."

Answer: sparrow

"His Eye is on the Sparrow" was written by Civilla D. Martin and Charles H. Gabriel. The Mahalia Jackson version won the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2010. It was inspired by Matthew 10:28-31.
6. 1906: What is the United States Navy song called?

Answer: Anchor's Aweigh

"Anchor's Aweigh" was composed by Charles A. Zimmermann, who, in 1887, was appointed the bandmaster at the United States Naval Academy. The lyrics were written by Alfred Hart Miles, a midshipman first class.
7. 1906: 'You're a grand old flag; you're a ____ ____ flag." What two words go in the blanks?

Answer: high flying

George M. Cohan wrote, "You're a Grand Old Flag" in tribute to the American flag. He wrote it for his musical "George Washington, Jr." The sheet music from the song was the first to sell over one million copies from a musical.

Answer: clay

"Have Thine Own Way, Lord" was written by Adelaide A. Pollard and Geroge C. Stebbins. The song says the Lord is "the potter, and I am the clay." It asks Him to "mold me and make me." Pollard was inspired by a woman at a prayer meeting, as well as Jeremiah 18:3, to write the lyrics to this song.
9. 1907: What days are "dear old golden rule days"?

Answer: School

Will D. Cobb and Gus Edwards wrote "School Days." It is about an older couple looking back on their childhood school days. It was used in the Broadway show "School Days." This is different from the Chuck Berry song of the same name.
10. 1908: What might you ask someone to buy you at the ball game according to a song?

Answer: peanuts and cracker jack

Jack Norworth and AlberTilzer wrote, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." It is often played during the seventh inning stretch at baseball games in the United States and Canada. Ironically, neither Norworth nor Tilzer had been to a baseball game before they wrote the song. Norworht wouldn't see a game for 32 years after writing the song.
