Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

FYI - All incorrect songs were from 1964.

1. "The Way We Were" (Barbra Streisand) was written by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman and Marvin Hamlisch. It won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1975. Hamlisch and the Bergmans won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 46th Academy Awards.

2. "Seasons in the Sun" (Terry Jacks) is an English-language adaptation of the song "Le Moribond" by Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel with lyrics rewritten in 1963 by American Rod McKuen. It would become Terry Jacks' only major solo hit in the United States.

3. "Love's Theme" (Love Unlimited Orchestra) is an instrumental piece by Barry White. It is one of the few purely orchestral singles to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. It was considered to influence the disco sound, which would become popular the following year.

4. "Come and Get Your Love" (Redbone) was written and produced by Lolly Vegas. It made Redbone the first Native American band to reach the top five on the Billboard Hot 100. The song experienced a resurgence in popularity when it was featured in the film "Guardians of the Galaxy" as a song on a mixtape made for the hero Peter Quill.

5. "Dancing Machine" (The Jackson 5) was written by Hal Davis, Don Fletcher and Dean Parks. The song popularized the physically complicated robot dance technique, developed by Charles Washington in the late 1960s. Michael Jackson first performed the dance on TV while singing "Dancing Machine" with the Jackson 5 on Soul Train in October 1973.

6. "The Loco-Motion" (Grand Funk Railroad) was written by American songwriters Gerry Goffin and Carole King. The tune is notable for appearing in the American Top Three (three times), in 1962 by Little Eva (U.S. number one), in 1974 by Grand Funk Railroad (U.S. number one) and finally in 1988 by Kylie Minogue (U.S. number three).

7. "TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)" (MFSB) was written by Gamble and Huff as the theme for the American musical television program "Soul Train". It was the first TV theme song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. MFSB officially stands for "Mother Father Sister Brother".

8. "The Streak" (Ray Stevens) was written, produced, and sung by Ray Stevens. Stevens had released the song less than a week before the televised 46th Academy Awards. During the awards, Robert Opel created a scene after he streaked across the stage behind host David Niven.

9. "Bennie and the Jets" (Elton John) was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. The track was a huge number-one hit in both the US and Canada. It has been one of John's most popular songs and was performed during his appearance at Live Aid.

10. "One Hell of a Woman" (Mac Davis) was written by Mac Davis and Mark James. It peaked at number 11 and spent a total of 28 weeks on the national charts, ten weeks more than did his number one hit, "Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me."

11. "Until You Come Back to Me" (Aretha Franklin) was written by Morris Broadnax, Clarence Paul and Stevie Wonder. The song reached number one on the R&B chart and number three on the Hot 100 chart. With this song peaking at number three, Franklin became the first artist in the history of the Hot 100 chart to have a hit song peak at each position from one to ten on the chart.

12. "Jungle Boogie" (Kool & the Gang) was written by Robert Earl Bell, Ronald Nathan Bell, Donald Boyce, George Melvin Brown, Robert Spike Mickens, Claydes Charles Smith, Clifford Adams and Dennis Thomas. The tune is noted for the Tarzan yell heard at the end of the song and the grunting, panting and scatting heard throughout.

13. "Midnight at the Oasis" (Maria Muldaur) was written by David Nichtern. It is Maria Muldaur's best-known recording. It was nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 17th Annual Grammy Awards.

14. "You Make Me Feel Brand New" (The Stylistics) was written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed. It reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and also reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. The Stylistics' recording sold over one million copies in the US, earning the band a gold record. It was the band's fifth gold disc.

15. "Show and Tell" (Al Wilson) was written by Jerry Fuller. The recording by Al Wilson reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for one week on January 19, 1974, and sold over two million copies. Wilson's version also hit number ten on the Hot Soul Singles chart.
