- Thurman Munson was the first player in baseball history to be named a College Baseball All-American and then win an MLB Rookie of the Year Award, MVP Award, Gold Glove Award and World Series championship.

- Buster Posey has won three World Series with the Giants and was the National League MVP in 2012.

- Joe Mauer was the first catcher in MLB history to win three batting titles, and the first catcher to ever win a batting title in the American League.
