Answer: Los Angeles Dodgers

The JFK assassination took place on November 22, 1963. One month prior, the Dodgers embarrassed the Yankees, four games to zero. The MVP of the Series was Dodger pitcher, Sandy Koufax, who won two games and struck out 23 Yankees. Catcher Elston Howard led the Yankees with five hits. Tom Tresh and Mickey Mantle hit the Yankees' only home runs in the Series.
2. Who was the U.S. President during the inaugural season of the American League?

In the American League's first season in 1901, President McKinley was about to have his world changed. On September 5, he was shot in an assassination attempt. He later died on September 14. Theodore Roosevelt succeeded him.
3. In which year during the Reagan Administration, did the world watch the Minnesota Twins win their first World Series?

Answer: 1987

Being as how Reagan served from 1981-1989, 1987 was the only option during Reagan's tenure. It saw the Twins defeat the St. Louis Cardinals, four games to three. This was the franchise's second World Series title, after winning their first in 1924, but under the name of the Washington Senators. The Twins' second World Series came in 1991.
4. Who lived in the White House when Nolan Ryan pitched his first no-hitter?

Answer: Richard Nixon

Ryan's first no-hitter came on May 15, 1973. He was a California Angel and blanked the Kansas City Royals. It was the following year on August 8, 1974, that Richard Nixon made his historic announcement of resigning the Presidency the following day.
5. Which U.S. President, along with the world, watched Hank Aaron surpass Babe Ruth with 715 home runs?

Answer: Richard Nixon

On April 8, 1974, the 'absolutely unbeatable' record was broken. The shot was made at the home of the Braves in Atlanta. When Aaron smacked and retired with his 755 home runs, Gerald Ford was the 38th U.S. President in 1976.
6. Which of the following U.S. Presidents was born in the same year as the great Cy Young made his baseball debut?

Answer: Dwight Eisenhower

August 6, 1890, was a day that would change baseball dramatically in the future. Denton True 'Cy Young' was born in Gilmore, Ohio. He retired with 511 career wins, an almost unreachable duplication. Eisenhower, the United States' 34th President, was born in Denison, Texas, on October 14th of the same year.
7. Who was the U.S. President when Babe Ruth hit his amazing 60 home runs in a season?

Answer: Calvin Coolidge

1927 was in the middle of Coolidge's stay in the White House from 1923-1929. Ruth also batted .356 in the season. His 60 four-baggers over-shadowed Lou Gehrig's 47 home runs. They both led the Yankees to a four game World Series sweep over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Answer: Detroit Tigers

FDR, the 32nd U.S. President, died on April 12, 1945, after serving multiple terms in office. In the sports world, the Detroit Tigers defeated the heavily favored Chicago Cubs, four games to three. The Tigers began game 7 by scoring five runs in the first inning. The Cubs never recovered. Detroit won the game 9-3.
9. Who was the U.S. President when, for the second time, the New York Yankees ran off four consecutive World Series titles?

Answer: Harry Truman

From 1949-1953 (five straight), the Yankees owned baseball.

Four of those five were 1949-50-51-52 when Harry Truman was president (1945 to January 1953). Two of those four victories were over the Dodgers (1949 and 1952). Their previous four straight were 1936-37-38-30.
