Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 89,214yds / 50.69mi / 2022

Answer: Tom Brady

When he retired, Tom Brady is one of two QBs to have started and won Super Bowls with more than one team. He joined Peyton Manning (Colts/Broncos) after his victory with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kurt Warner had a shot after winning a Super Bowl over the Titans, but lost his bid for two in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
2. 80,358yds / 45.66mi / 2020

Answer: Drew Brees

Known widely for his famous pre-game 'hype' speech, Drew Brees ended his career in the top spot, as the all-time leader in passing yards. He took over the pre-game duties in 2008 and was inspired by the "THIS IS SPARTA" from the movie "300". The change being "THIS IS NEW ORLEANS".
He played for San Diego Chargers (2001-2005) and New Orleans Saints (2006-2020).
3. 71,940yds / 40.88mi / 2015

Answer: Peyton Manning

We all know him for "Omaha" and a bevy of TV commercials on top of a record-setting NFL career. One of the best videos, however, is when he famously led the Tennessee Marching band in a rendition of 'Rocky Top' after his squad defeated SEC rival Alabama.
He played for Indianapolis Colts (1998-2011) and Denver Broncos (2012-2015).
4. 71,838yds / 40.82mi / 2010

Answer: Brett Favre

Brett 2007:
Thanks for the memories, I'm retiring. (Leaves Green Bay Packers and plays for the 2008 New York Jets).
Brett 2008:
Been a great career. Thank you. (He plays for 2009 Minnesota Vikings).
Brett 2010:
It's really happening this time! (Retired ... for real).

When he retired, Favre held the record for most consecutive games played at 297. The previous mark was 270 set by Jim Marshall (1961-1979).
5. 64,008yds / 36.41mi / 2021

Answer: Ben Roethlisberger

It is not a given for a Hall of Fame QB to have played their entire career with just one team. Ben began and ended his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2004-2021). When he retired he was only one of two in the top 10 in yardage to play for only one team (the other was Dan Marino - Dolphins - 1983 to 1999).
6. 63,440yds / 36.05mi / 2024

Answer: Philip Rivers

One of the three QBs (Rivers, Roethlisberger, E. Manning) from the legendary draft class of 2004, there were 'major concerns' with his throwing motion coming out of college at NC State. His 'sidewinder' motion was supposedly not 'fit for the NFL'. While not as long as Brett Favre, he went on to play for 252 consecutive games for the Chargers and Colts.
7. 62,952yds / 35.79mi / 2024

Answer: Aaron Rodgers

Known as much at the end of his career for his 'darkness retreats' as his production on the field, Aaron Rogers boasts one of the highest efficiency ratings of all time. He played for the Green Bay Packers (2005-2022) and
New York Jets (2023-2024). When he retired he held the record for most consecutive seasons with a passer rating over 100. For comparison, John Elway's career passer rating is 79.9.
8. 62,792yds / 35.68mi / 2022

Answer: Matt Ryan

'Matty Ice' began his NFL career in 2008 in the best way possible for a QB. He threw a 62yd touchdown pass on his first NFL attempt. The other side of that coin is just as astounding. He led the Atlanta Falcons to the biggest blown lead in a Super Bowl, losing a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI (Feb. 2017) with only 7:47 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The Dolphins lost to the Patriots 28-34.
9. 61,361yds / 34.86mi / 1999

Answer: Dan Marino

Before the legendary 'green room slide' of Aaron Rodgers in 2005, Dan Marino created the category in 1983. While some thought he could go as high as #3 overall, he tumbled all the way down to 28 with the Miami Dolphins. He became the first QB to throw for over 5000 yards (1984) and led the Dolphins to Super Bowl XIX (Jan. 1985) where the Dolphins lost the San Francisco 49ers.

This would be Marino's only trip to the Super Bowl in a 17 year career.
10. 58,809yds / 33.41mi / 2024

Answer: Matthew Stafford

After spending 12 seasons with the team that drafted him in 2009 in the first round (Detroit Lions), he was traded in 2021 and won a Super Bowl in his first season with the LA Rams (Feb. 2022).
