The Arena de Sao Paulo, also known as Arena Corinthians for the Sport Club Corinthians Paulista that calls it home, was newly constructed for the World Cup tournament. The planned construction of the new 48,234-capacity stadium was announced on August 31st, 2010, and finally completed on April 15th, 2014. Modifications made for the World Cup competition were completed on May 20th, allowing for additional seating to accommodate up to 65,807 people.Sao Paulo is the largest city in Brazil, and is the capital of the state of the same name.

It is located on the south-east coast of the country. Brazil won the opening match by a score of 3-1.

The Estadio Nacional, fully named the Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha, was constructed in 1974 and has a seating capacity of 68,349 for World Cup. It is a multi-purpose facility, although it is used primarily for soccer and is the home of Brasilia FC.

As with the other existing venues chosen for the competition, the Estadio Nacional was renovated, officially reopening on May 18th, 2013. Brasilia is the capital of Brazil (and the capital of the Federal District), and has been since it took the title from Rio de Janeiro in 1960.

Replacing the old Estadio Vivaldao, and with a seating capacity of 40,549, it is not the largest venue of the tournament, but it just might be the most unique, with its external metal structure designed to resemble a straw basket. Manaus is the capital city of the state of Amazonas, and is located in the interior of Brazil's Amazon Basin.

It is Brazil's eleventh largest city.
