Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. House enters Cuddy's office and solemnly presents her with a gift. What kind of gift does House present to Cuddy?

Answer: It's a book written by Cuddy's great-grandfather.

House enters Cuddy's office as she is preparing to leave for an emergency. Cuddy opens the package which contains a book written by Cuddy's great-grandfather. Cuddy exclaims, "My great-grandfather!" House jokingly replies, "No, it's just a book he wrote." House inscribed in the book, "To Lisa and Lucas, Here's to a new chapter... Best, Greg."
2. Cuddy assembles a team to rush to the scene of a horrific accident. What precipitated this emergency?

Answer: a crane collapse

A crane has collapsed causing numerous injuries and fatalities. Cuddy assembles a team to provide medical treatment and triage for the injured. After initially stating indifference, House arrives at the scene to provide assistance.
3. House hears a tap on a pipe. He requests assistance to determine if there may be a survivor beneath the rubble. House proceeds underground and finds a woman. What is her name?

Answer: Hanna

Upon hearing the tap on the pipe, House urges the emergency team to investigate. They are unable to substantiate House's claim. So, House follows the track of pipe and discovers a woman pinned down by a beam. In an attempt to test her mental acuity, House asks her name. She says it's Hanna.
4. House takes a moment to talk to Cuddy about the gift. Apparently, Cuddy has misconstrued the event for which the gift has been presented. For what sort of event does Cuddy think the gift is?

Answer: Lucas and Cuddy's engagement

House approaches Cuddy. He mentions the gift. Cuddy is busy and she says, Can we talk about this later?" House immediately replies, "Of course." After a very brief pause, House says, "Is now later?" Cuddy takes House aside and tells him that she thought the gift was an engagement present.
5. House has insisted that more adequate equipment be delivered in order to extricate the patient's leg from the fallen debris. Patience is rewarded with the arrival of better equipment. However, what happens to prevent the rescue?

Answer: There is a secondary collapse.

Just as the delivered equipment seems to be lifting the concrete slab pinning the woman down, a secondary collapse occurs. The collapse merely serves to exacerbate the situation. The woman experiences a collapsed lung for which House provides assistance.
6. Initially, House is adamant about preserving the leg of the patient who is trapped underneath the rubble. Does House change his mind and ultimately advocate for an amputation?

Answer: Yes

House and Cuddy have an argument. They exchange unkind remarks with an underlying honesty. House relents and persuades the woman to have her leg amputated in order to free her from the rubble. House makes a reference to his own leg pain and Cuddy is clearly moved by House's poignant confession.
7. The patient who has been trapped beneath the rubble has been freed. House accompanies her in the ambulance ride to the hospital. Suddenly, complications develop. What happens to the patient?

Answer: She dies in transit to the hospital.

As the woman is being transported to the hospital, she develops serious complications. After ruling out other possibilities, House resignedly announces that it is not a clot, but a fat embolism. House sits back in dejected defeat. When the ambulance arrives at the hospital, the patient is dead on arrival.
8. House is visibly distraught for a myriad of reasons. Foreman makes an effort to console House. In a somewhat rare display of genuine concern, what does Foreman say to House?

Answer: "You shouldn't be alone right now."

Foreman is genuinely concerned for House and displays sincere empathy. Foreman's compassion is laudable considering their history. Nevertheless, House brusquely tells Foreman, "I'm gonna give you as task as an employee. Get out of my way." Foreman really has no other choice but to oblige.
9. Just as Thirteen is prepared to leave House's office, Taub walks in. Taub has noticed that Thirteen has left something on House's desk. What does she place on House's desk?

Answer: an envelope

Just as Thirteen places the envelope on House's desk, Taub enters the office. Taub asks, "What's that?" Thirteen replies, "I'm asking for some time off." Taub is concerned and wants to know if everything is alright. Thirteen gravely replies, "Obviously not."
10. House is understandably overwrought and visibly upset. His guilt and remorse have taken their toll. House rips a mirror from the wall. What is hidden behind the mirror?

Answer: two bottles of pain medication

House, in a fury, removes the mirror from the wall which reveals a hidden cache of prescription pain medication. House slumps to the floor with a couple of tablets in his hand. Before House takes the pills, Cuddy enters the room and confesses that she is in love with House.

They share a passionate kiss. House understandably wonders if he is hallucinating. Cuddy asks if he took the vicodin. House lets the pills drop from his hand onto the floor. Cuddy says, "Then, I think we're ok."
